Geometric + Funky Details at This Colorado Estate Wedding

Colorado Lakeside Wedding

Brittany + Rhett loved the idea of having a smaller, domestic destination wedding, where guests could savor the weekend from start to finish. After learning about the many restrictions of having a wedding ceremony in a national park, the duo opted for the ranch Brittany’s aunt + uncle own in Grand Junction, Colorado, just outside of Monument National Park. The serene setting made the perfect backdrop for their eclectic day. Vanessa Noel Events helped them craft a theme which incorporated vintage accents, modern geometric elements, copper, and lavender!

The bride shares We knew the aesthetic was going to be very eclectic. Grand Junction is a charming town nestled in a valley, so it would make sense to go farm-rustic… But that didn’t fit us. Rhett loves the vintage look, while I am all about modern bohemian vibes and love Art Deco. That said, we wanted it to feel elegant, yet laid-back, so we ambitiously fused all those concepts together. We had a picnic-inspired ceremony with a closing toast, succulents and air-plants, and a family-style taco dinner with a guac station! I also insisted that it was a “no mason jar zone”.

Let’s head to the party and see all the details captured by Anna Delores Photography!

Lavender was used throughout the floral arrangements by Vanessa Noel Events, and inspired the rest of the color palette: muted blues, grey, amethyst, and blush. Brittany’s dress is from Christina Wu and that vintage-inspired hairpiece is the “Rosie” by Jannie Baltzer.

mini cheese boards

Guests were greeted with charcuterie spreads and champagne to enjoy throughout the ceremony. At the end of the night, the wood boards were placed into favor bags and distributed to guests as they departed – such a great idea for a wedding favor!

B+R opted for a modern bohemian-inspired “picnic” ceremony, with rugs scattered on the lawn.

Our Favorite Memory From The Wedding

The ceremony was by far our favorite — particularly the vows. We asked our two wonderful friends to officiate because we admire them so much; not only individually, but we remain extremely inspired by their love for one another. Out of everyone that was present, they have probably spent as much time with us jointly, and the ceremony reflected that. Beyoncé references and social media jokes, the ceremony focused on how we have demonstrated our commitment to one another really since the beginning of our relationship.

We like to think that our vows painted the picture of how we are so different but extremely complementary to one another — why we make each other better and grow daily, because of our varying strengths as partners. It was especially touching that Rhett made references to my late parents… He unfortunately never got to meet them, but he acknowledged the profound impact they had on both me + my sister — who was standing by my side — to be the strong, determined people we are today.

Vanessa Noel Events shares We used a mix of different runners below overgrown centerpieces filled with textural blooms, air-plants, and show-stopping protea. Every place setting was accented with a piece of rose quartz, along with laser-cut table names in metallic copper (each table was named after one of their dogs!) added a touch of modern glam.

sparkler exit

We love a good sparkler line! Brittany tells us We walked onto the floor for our first dance, just as the sun was setting, and our friends surrounded us with a glistening line of sparklers. It was wonderful to be able to collectively take in all the faces of our loved ones who had traveled to be with us. All of “our people” were there rooting for us and cheering us on… It was a moment of pure joy and the best way to start our married life together.

Our Advice To Those Planning Now

Don’t worry about doing things the way you think you’re supposed to do them. Your friends and family love you for the unique individuals you are and in that same regard, will appreciate the personal touches you add to the age-old institution of a wedding. We highly encourage writing your own vows and personalizing the actual ceremony as much as possible.

Also, spend the time before the wedding how you really want to — we loved waking up together the morning of the wedding, excited for what was to come. We had the unusual opportunity to be on site at the venue the entire day before our ceremony, which allowed us to witness the transformation of a familiar space into our special + personalized one. Be flexible with your ideas as hiccups come up and know that things may change along the way!
