Are you familiar with terrazzo tiles? There’s a good chance you’ve seen these colorful tiles lately…but do you know where they come from? Terrazzo is Italian for ‘terrace,’ and was invented sometime around the 15th century in Venice, when workers were left with odd pieces of marble after completing jobs. Those small marble rocks were put into clay and made for interesting flooring, while using the leftover resources. The style of terrazzo was brought to the US from Europe in the late 1700s, and in the 1970s, it became a very fashionable way to embellish things—there’s your anthropology + history lesson for the day. ;) And, as fashion goes, there’s been a surge of terrazzo today!
Inspired by the colorful tiles and their confetti-like nature, Maddox & Rose teamed up with florist, Zachary Brady Designs, and photographer, Firm Anchor, to create this fun editorial. From the terrazzo tiles to the colorful confetti and the creative backdrop, this wedding inspiration sure packs a vibrant punch!
The Details
They kicked off the day with a major *POP* of color! Isn’t that modern invitation from Allie Peach super cool?
You can probably already guess that we’re in serious favor of colorful wedding shoes… :)
The Backdrop
For the backdrop, it was all about adding a luxe touch with the gold stands + gold fronds. We dig how Zachary Brady Designs incorporated Pantone’s Color of the Year into the florals—coral, for the win!
Bohemian, yet modern. We are LOVING the lace pattern and long skirt on this gown from Couture Closet.
The Florals
Peachy pinks and gold are such a delicious pairing, especially when rounded out by some creamy whites for added softness.
Isn’t that sweeping updo from Hair by Maddie Woff INCREDIBLE? Pinning that now…
And the tile backdrop!! The team brought in just the right amount of color with the groom’s bow tie and the bride’s boots: bold, yet understated.
The Modern Tablescape
Because the rest of the day took on bold hues, the tablescape was kept rather minimal with modern ghost chairs and white chargers from All Occasions.
Plus small terrazzo tile plates, of course!!
Don’t those cocktails + plates from Crushed Ice Catering look tasty?
The Vibrant Ensembles
We’ve been crushing on bridal hats lately. You too? See more ideas + how to create your own floral bridal hat here!
The groom is looking dapper in his suit from Generation Tux.
As the rest of the day was full of vibrant color, Bailey Carter Beauty crafted a subtle and slightly nude makeup look with a sultry smokey eye + glam highlight. It’s all about balance.
Want to DIY a jacket for your big day? We put together a tutorial for just the thing!
The Sweet Treats
How GORGEOUS is that cake Louisvillicious created?! We love the brushstroke effect and all the touches of gold!
What a modern + cool way to incorporate tons of color into the big day! A huge THANK YOU to the team of creatives behind this inspo!
