Colorful New Zealand Camp Wedding: Amber-Rose + Shane

New Zealand wedding

We have the prettiest wedding to share today, captured by Lydia Rachel at a sweet summer camp in New Zealand. Amber-Rose + Shane have been together since they were just kiddos (so cute!) and their day was a compilation of their history, growing up together, and a fun look at where they’re surely heading together in life! We love all the details Amber-Rose shared about the day, so we’re gonna let her take it from here, Our wedding really signified the coming together not only of us as husband and wife but of our families as well. We come from different cultures that both believe it takes an entire village to raise a child. Because we’ve been together since we were 15 we feel like we have our families to thank for supporting us, encouraging us and helping us stay together for all these years. That’s why it was very important to honour both our cultures and traditions with the Ros ceremony and the Maori welcoming and Haka.

We truly grew up together and back when we first started dating things were different – life was simpler, you could fall head first into love without worrying about the consequences and most importantly you could play and have fun together. We wanted to share this part of us with all our guests and what better way than with a camp wedding where we could sleep over, play games and be together in nature. So this was really the inspiration for the weekend.

Our Favorite Memory From The Wedding

Walking down the aisle - what an emotional trip!!! I didn't see anyone else only Shane and we were both in tears. Reading our vows - Because when you've been together for so many years you sometimes forget to tell your loved one just how much they mean to you and how much they've changed your life for the better. My step-dad's speech - He's really not one for public speaking or displays of affection but hearing him talk about all the wonderful times we've had over the years had me in tears. Shane singing to me!!! Who would have thought - I've never heard Shane sing in my life and it was the last thing I expected! He had practiced with my brother who was playing guitar and it was so incredibly special to me. Dancing outside in the rain - because rain :) Looking back now we feel like everything we had planned could have gone wrong and it wouldn't have mattered because we're just so ecstatic that we get to spend our lives together surrounded by the best family and friends a couple of silly kids could ask for.

Our Advice To Those Planning Now

During the wedding planning process Shane and I tried our hardest to stay away from sites like Pinterest and other wedding blogs because we felt like it's very easy to subconsciously copy what you see and end up with someone else's idea of a great wedding. Of course we did use blogs and Pinterest for some ideas like makeup, hair etc but we really wanted the weekend to be 'Us'.
