Get ready to fall in love with today’s ultra sweet celebration! Our cute couple, Lindsay + Loren, had a vision for their day that was a little California, a little Southern, a little vintage, and a little chic. They were totally hands-on in bringing their fun ideas to life, joining forces with the team at Eventful Wedding Planning, since they were planning from afar. A full weekend to spend lots of time with those closest to them was key, and getting everything beautifully documented was another priority they were able to easily check off their list thanks to their talented photographer, Amber Lynn!
Lindsay says, Loren and I were married in a small, private ceremony in the Los Angeles Temple. We decided to make a weekend of our wedding since the temple is a 3-hour drive from our hometown. Our reception was the next day at our family friends’ beautiful ranch in Santa Maria. Loren and I wanted it to be a happy, light-hearted celebration that represented us and where we had been. We had so much help from wonderful family and friends, and also won an incredible wedding giveaway package from local vendors.
We’re pretty in love with Lindsay’s bridal look! She wore a gorgeous sequin dress from Nordstrom paired with an airy, tulle BHLDN skirt! Steal her style + shop for some other key design elements from her + Loren’s day in our shopping guide below:

Linds carried such a pretty + vibrant bouquet thanks to Embellishments. (Great trailing ribbon, too, right?!)
And her words about how it felt when she + Loren met were so sweet we had to share! Without being too mushy-gushy, I’ll just describe it as the kind of thing people always use a lot of clichés to write movies and songs about. It was like we were reunited old friends, picking up where we left off. We had so much in common, eerily similar histories, and fell in love so easily. We both dated and searched a long time, and the bitter from the past ended up making finding each other all the sweeter. It wasn’t “love at first sight,” it was better. We’re best friends, and it’s just a wonderful partnership and miracle. Okay end of mushy-gushiness.
Each place setting featured vintage china collected by L + L and stamped linen bags, with a custom message, filled with colorful taffy.
We hired a funky New Orleans Jazz band that I discovered years prior in San Luis Obispo at Farmers’ Market. They did a traditional “Second Line” parade from the patio to the dining area under the oak trees. Our guests were given parasols, handkerchiefs, and fans to wave as we paraded.
While we love the whole reception setting, we’re especially crushing on this cake table vignette. That paper flower backdrop featuring pieces by Paper Floral Artistry is just so good!
Loren and I had so much fun planning together. We spent a lot of weekends hunting down vintage plates and brass candlesticks at local thrift stores, assembling invitations, and going to various appointments. We planned everything from Texas and our wedding was in California, so it got a little tricky at times. We relied heavily on family and friends, and their love and support made the entire process so memorable and personal. Most of the vendors listed below are close friends. We are incredibly grateful and indebted to our loved ones who pulled together to make everything so beautiful. Overall, plan together as a couple and surround yourself with loved ones. Also, try to enjoy the process without worrying too much about the tiny details. This was so hard for me, because I love the tiny details! Things will not go completely as planned, but for us, those moments became some of our most cherished memories.
