A Boho Garden Wedding in San Diego: Kelly + Tim

bride and groom

Kelly + Tim wanted a lovely bohemian wedding with lots of white and creams and beiges – a true reflection of their style. Kelly describes her and Tim as “simple people, hippies at heart, who find happiness, love, and smiles in the natural beauty around us” so it is no surprise that they wanted their wedding day to have the same feel. The San Diego Botanic Garden was the perfect blend of nature, beauty and hometown feel. The wedding was a true DIY labor of love for these two cuties as they planned the entire thing themselves. I love that the bridesmaids carried lavender bunches and Kelly walked down the aisle barefoot! :) Big thanks to Troy Grover Photographers for the photos and congrats to Kelly + Tim!

Our Favorite Memory From The Wedding

Kelly: I always said I wanted to get married in a secret garden. I remember walking down the aisle being surrounded by all of this natural beauty (not only nature but our gorgeous guests as well), smiling as big as ever at my handsome future husband glowing up front, and seeing the sun peaking through the trees and thinking "WOW. This is it. This is perfect". When Tim and I read our vows to each other it was straight magic. The setting in the walled garden was so incredibly intimate and it felt so authentic. We didn't need mics to read our vows. We didn't need a huge arch constructed of flowers and gemstones. All we needed was right there with us – the natural beauty of the trees, the warmth of the sun, our family, friends, loved ones, and of course each other. It was simple. It was beautiful. It was completely perfect.

Tim: It rained the morning of our wedding. I remember thinking Kelly could be freaking out thinking everything was ruined. The clouds cleared and the sun came out midday. When I saw her she was smiling and so happy. Nothing was going to stop us from making our day perfect and that sums her up. It was perfect.

We could have never planned the day without the help, love, support and craftsmanship of our parents, who were there each step of the way crafting our centerpieces, signs, tablecloths, you name it. It was so special that everyone really got involved and helped out, adding even more of a personal and loving touch to the decor.

We chose our first dance song because Tim plays the guitar, and when we first started dating he always used to play the guitar and sing to me “Wonderful Tonight”.  Such an angel!

Our Advice To Those Planning Now

Keep it simple! Don't get caught up in the glitz and the crazy decorations that you see others do. Your wedding day should be a reflection of yourselves and your spirits. Stay true to yourselves and the day will be more magical then you ever thought possible. Seriously. We still hear about how much our wedding reflected our personalities and the people we are and to us, that is the best compliment we could ever receive.
