Shree and Anir’s boho-inspired wedding is nothing short of dreamy. By a stroke of good luck, this gorgeous couple met on the beaches of Hawaii while attending another wedding, and the rest is history!
Tropical influences flow throughout their day to bring life to their origin story. The couple was drawn to softer pinks and lighter, more neutral tones for the wedding – which is actually a standout from the more colorful palettes traditionally seen at Indian weddings – it turned out beautifully!
Melissa Gayle was on site at the gorgeous California venue at Rancho Las Lomas, and photographed every magical moment. Intertwined Events planned the stunning day and we can hardly wait for you to see it!
All in the Details
One of the most notable elements of their big day was Shree’s henna art by Neha Assar, which is utilized culturally to celebrate big life events as a symbol of prosperity and good fortune. It is absolutely stunning!
KG Hair and Makeup created these gorgeous soft curls adorned by the bride’s beautiful headpiece while Beauty by Melina did the bride’s smoky eye makeup which complemented her bright scarlet lip color!

The Bride, Groom, and their Wedding Party!
We love a first look! The groom-to-be is beaming! Shree shared with us how the two met:
“We met at my cousin’s wedding in Hawaii in 2014. Anir was studying in Hawaii and was invited to the wedding last minute because my brother and him are best friends. We found pockets of time during the wedding where we got to know each other and we felt an instant connection at that point! One of the most memorable moments from that weekend was when we lit floating lanterns on the beach together. It totally felt like a scene from a rom-com movie!”
Our favorite moment was our first look. Even though we were living together at that point, there was something so special about seeing each other in our wedding outfits for the first time! We saw each other in a new light and it sunk in that it was officially forever!
These bridesmaids look absolutely gorgeous in their light pink attire!
The California Venue
“Anir had been preparing for the proposal for over 1.5 years. My family was planning a trip to Hawaii, and he thought it would be the perfect opportunity to propose, especially since Hawaii is so special to us and since we would be surrounded by loved ones. He found a secluded beach and, with the help of his friends, he set up the most romantic arch that he proposed under during sunset. He even had a live singer playing our favorite songs, and booked a photographer to capture the moment! It was truly the proposal of my dreams.”
Sealed with a kiss! These two are officially husband and wife!
Happily Ever After
We chatted with the event planners at Intertwined Events to hear a little more about how this team nailed down the venue and the vision!
“When we first started exploring venues with the couple, we chatted about priorities and discussed focusing on venues where they could use the majority of their budget on florals and decor instead of venue fees and catering. We found a stunning venue that allowed them to do just that and the result was magical!”
“Shree had a vision for a glam boho wedding with tropical influences. She was very open to color, exploring new ideas, and mixing textures which allowed for so much creativity between us and her floral team. She had so much trust in her team and it really allowed for great collaboration from all parties.“
“Shree’s mom was very involved in the design process as well, and had a dream of a floral peacock chair. We searched high and low with the florist and furniture rental team to find the chair to fit their needs. It was finally snagged at a flea market by the furniture team, and the florist created the perfect peacock and floral tail for it! It was everything her mom had hoped for.”
A Muted Color Palette
The bride shared with us the inspiration behind this color palette and decor that looks straight out of a fairytale!
“Indian weddings are normally full of bright colors, but I always loved neutrals and soft pinks and thought it would make our wedding a little different from a cultural standpoint. We also had tropical elements to represent Hawaii and a beautiful floral peacock chair that my mom has always dreamed of having at our wedding.“
“I would also say a huge part of the decor was inspired by our wedding planner, Kelsey. I had a vision in mind but did not really know how to make it come to life. Kelsey took all these elements that we loved and put it all together!”
“Traditionally in an Indian wedding, the family is heavily involved in the planning process. Anir and I really wanted to incorporate our family’s ideas as much as possible, but we ran into challenges at times due to the pandemic. That being said, Kelsey really did accommodate all of our requests and made the interactions with our family so much easier.
Our guests are constantly raving about what a beautiful day our wedding was. I really didn’t feel stressed on the wedding day at all and I was able to enjoy every second of it thanks to the team!”
