It’s the very landscape that inspired Georgia O’Keeffe, a magical New Mexico retreat full of inspiration and beauty — kind of a no-brainer for a vow renewal, right? Designer, Jessie Baca, certainly thought so and, lucky us, she assembled a team of creatives to bring one to life right in the middle of this majestic destination. Here’s how all the pieces came together:
The location of Ghost Ranch brought the most inspiration. The minute you step foot on the property, you feel a spirituality and a synchronicity. The air is different, the light is different, the earth is different. We were honored to create beauty in an already naturally beautiful setting. Our concept was an earthy-modern approach to a vow renewal. Connecting to the earth and playing with a very neutral fall palette, we wanted to assimilate into the surroundings of beiges, terra cottas and touches of mustard and gold. The striated rocks found on Ghost Ranch inspired the color palette and the circular motif found on the invitation and decor elements echoed the 1,000 step labyrinth where the renewal ceremony was held. This vow renewal wasn’t just about the couple, but included the children that complete the circle of the family, making it even more special.
Alicia Lucia Photography captured all the magic — let’s have a look!
The invitation set the tone with an earthy palette and circular motifs, echoed by the labyrinth space and the decorative details.
She wore a vintage gown and boots, topped off with loose curls and a deep, bold lip.
His look was cool, casual cowboy…so perfect!
SO fun to bring the kids along! How cute are they?!
Viva Flora designed the bouquet with dusty, desert tones and a beaded wrap — love that detail.
Table for four! Such a sweet little setting. The addition of pampas grass brings it to life!
Pink salt + incense bundles…totally earthy!
Shapes played a big role in the design for the day, playing off those found in nature — like the transition of the moon.
They skipped a cake in favor of a rich chocolate bar from Kakawa Chocolate House.
LOVE all the texture + color here!
Look at that desert light!
In New Mexico, the golden hour light in October has the most rich and warm, ethereal glow to it. It sent the most golden yellow glow through the changing cottonwood leaves and across the tips of the fading grasses. The portraits in the field have left us all with feeling of a radiating halo. The air was still and the sun was warm.
What a magical desert day! Thanks to the whole team for sharing your creative inspiration!
