Alice in Winter Wonderland Wedding: Sabrina + Hubert

alice in wonderland wedding

Sabrina + Hubert met in Las Vegas in 2008 – even though she is German and he is French. She was studying at UCLA for the summer and went for weekend trip to Vegas. Hubert was road tripping in California with his best friend. After spending only a few hours together in Vegas, they immediately knew they would see each other again. Hubert returned to France and after the end of her term, Sabrina returned to Germany. A half year later she moved to France to be with Hubert and another half year later Hubert proposed in a tree house on Martinique Island! Because of language barriers, they decided to move to an English speaking country and moved to London. They knew their story was unique, so when it came time to plan their wedding, they knew it needed to be very, very special. :) I’ll let Sabrina tell you lovelies more:

A lot of fantasy is needed to think about the fact that two people from two different countries, with two different languages met in Vegas, fall in love and get married. That’s actually how we found our wedding theme: FANTASY! And what reflects fantasy better than ‘Alice in Wonderland’!? Our wedding idea was born. Since I was a little girl, I’ve always loved winter and I dreamt of having a winter wedding – and of course I always loved Alice in Wonderland which I grew up with.

Despite the fact that Alice in Wonderland has absolutely no winter theme, I wanted to combine both as I just love playing with extremes. I love details and it was very important to me that everything was perfectly designed and well planned. This and the fact that we live in London and had to organize a wedding in the middle of the Austrian Alps, made us decide to work with a wedding planner – Doreen Winking Weddings. We briefed the team on our ideas and really let them run with it – and as you’ll see they totally nailed it! The whole team was very professional and it felt like working with friends. Our gorgeous photos are by Carmen and Ingo Photography.

When we decided to go for a winter Alice in Wonderland theme, I knew that I would need a very outstanding but warm dress. The Victorian time was fascinating to me since I moved to London and so I started to create a wedding dress in my head. I imagined a Victorian dress but still traditional and very sophisticated and modern. After months and months of researching I came across Victorian Gothic – she makes Victorian Gothic dresses by using original patterns. I got in touch and sent her my ideas and asked whether she would like to create my dress. From that first initial moment, she was totally excited to work on not only the dress, but also the shoes, hat and other details. Hubert is wearing an original vintage suit and top hat from1890 he bought in a vintage store in London.

Our fairytale wedding brought different cultures and nations together and the cold, cozy winter mood let everyone move more closely together, no matter if they spoke the same language or not. We enjoyed every second of our wedding!

Sabrina + Hubert also opted to do some fun Day After photos…with a horse and then holi powder! :)
