A Romantic Wedding Weekend at Calistoga Ranch

Romantic Calistoga Wedding

How would you describe the moment after the “I Do’s”? We think today’s bride totally nailed that “just married” feeling: It changes things in the best way. Who knew saying, “This is my husband,” or “This is my wife,” would be so damn sexy?!

Alex + Josh’s incredible ranch wedding came to us by way of Orange Blossom Special Events, who’s planning prowess played a big role in an especially big day. The couple wanted a carefree weekend full of love and family, and that’s exactly what they got. From the beautiful ceremony to a dance party that lasted well into the AM, A+J were side by side as the celebration radiated love all weekend long!

Alex filled us in on one tradition that felt especially significant: On the night before the wedding, we decided to take the traditional route and spend it apart. With the assistance of friends and family, we made sure we would not see each other again until the aisle. The giddiness, nerves, and excitement made it all the more special and let us focus on ourselves and the moment, rather than having an opportunity to nitpick or obsess over any last minute changes to the planning.

Linda Arredondo captured the beautiful photos—let’s take a peek!

Alex wore the most perfect pair of Converse sneakers we’ve ever seen!

She requested that each bridesmaid choose a long dress in any shade of grey, a nod to her mother’s last name. Alex says the end result looked like a Vanity Fair shoot…we agree! So classy and such a lovely way to honor her mother.

For her own gown, Alex glowed in a Lili Hod top with an Austin Scarlett skirt from Gabriella Bridal. Isn’t she just stunning??

The sweet ceremony took place at Calistoga Ranch, a venue that Alex chose with her mother who loved spending time in Calistoga.

groomsmen

Not to let the ladies steal the entire show, the men brought their own fashionable looks! Josh’s suit was custom fit by George Clinton at Clinton Bespoke, whom Alex calls, “of another level” and HIGHLY recommends!

Our Advice To Those Planning Now

To the best of your ability, don't compromise to appease family and friends. Stick together, or at least close to one another, and keep checking at the reception. It's your first hours as a married couple and making sure you and your other half is connected is a good way to start. And again, we recommend a venue that doesn't impose an early curfew. If you can, make a part of the celebration is outdoors. There was something around being in nature and in the elements that enhanced the moment for us.

Our Favorite Memory From The Wedding

The entire day was absolute pure magic, from the way the sun set beyond the hills of the valley, to the hummingbirds and butterflies dancing around the venue, it was straight out of a fairytale.

A decision we made and will never regret is reserving our party space, aka our dancing wine cave, until 2AM. We we're told repeatedly that weddings never go past midnight at best, but we held steadfast. Our brilliant DJ, Mr. Ian Gotler at RedShoe, spun tunes until the wee hours and I can't remember a moment where the dance floor was not packed. Our family and friends, did not stop busting a move.

A moment that truly stands out was at the very end of the night, as the lights began to come up, our dear friend and vocalist extraordinaire grabbed the mic from Ian, demanding he put on the instrumentals to "At Last" by Etta James. I remember the look on Ian's face (he didn't know Lizy or her singing prowess) as it transitioned from horror to awe. Everyone in the crowed got tears in their eyes and sat on the ground in a cuddle puddle as we were serenaded. Our decision to extend the night as long as we could to make it last, is something we highly recommend. It goes fast either way.
