I love this idea so much! I’m always excited to share ideas for your bridal shower since I think that is such a fun event during the planning that is often overlooked. Well, today we have a fun twist on the traditional all female bridal shower – why not make it co-ed?! Inspired by a pair of wood sunglasses from Proof, Tonya Peterson and her talented design team styled a fun, retro hipster co-ed wedding shower that would appeal to both men and women. They used the glasses as the favors and then as part of the design for the invitations + menu.
What do you think? Would you have a co-ed shower? I do everything with my hubby, so I love this idea for a relaxed party with all our friends.

We ARE having a co-ed wedding shower! In fact, the one stipulation I made to my maid of honor and his best man was that it was not “my day,” not “his day,” but OUR day. We are doing everything together…
…EXCEPT for the bachelor(ette) parties, because as much as we need to be partners in all we do, we need our separate girl/guy time too! lol
Love this trend! We had a co-ed shower, and it worked out great because we each have friends of both sexes that we were able to include.
Plus, since my girlfriends and I aren’t really the tea party type, it was easy to break tradition. :)
Having a co-ed shower is very common to the Hispanics. My fiancé and I are having our wedding shower as co-ed. :)
I love the stationery, it’s got a very cool modern look, nice and simple but still great.
Thank you so much for the wonderful feature! This shoot was such a blast to shoot. A huge thanks to all the vendors and models for making it amazing!
My fiance and I just had a co-ed shower and it was a blast! The men got to grill out Tex-Mex style while the ladies enjoyed whipping up tasty desserts. As the bride most events revolve around girly things (flowers, dresses, decorations…) so it was wonderful getting to celebrate OUR life together and his friends as well :)
Such beautiful moments captured on film. A great party atmosphere and believe it or not guys do like to dress up and play the part more often than people think! Kudos! Great idea for a combo party. Nice job!
Co-ed most definitely! What a great idea and great design. Actually co-ed showers with all of your nearest and dearest friends and fam is a great idea.

This looks so fun! I love the retro touches… where on earth did they get that television?! :) Favorite shot is definitley the “Boy Band” shot. Too cute.
i am one of the few females who does not get any delight out of bridal or baby showers. everyone ive ever been to has been all female and boring or stuffy or blah. this is a great idea and if we had had a shower i had insisted that it was going to involve the guys as well. just seems to lighten it up. its not only about the bride you know!
What a cute idea having a co-ed shower! It’s definitely something we would think about and we love the styling and relaxed vibe of this gathering. It’s a real shame that here in the UK people don’t really do bridal showers but we are going to lead the way and show people what here are missing!
Great post, thank you for the inspiration!

We had a co ed shower! It was to celebrate our marriage – so we thought we should both be there.
I’ve been to a few co-ed wedding showers and they were all good times. What a great party and those wooden glasses are rad.
Cool~
This is too cute. So fun and interesting. Not only is everyone gorgeous, but everyone’s outfits are awesome. I also am crazy about the cake. Super cute :)
Love the idea of a co-ed shower, after all there are two people getting married so why not have events leading up to the big day for both of them! The more the merrier when it comes to showers. Also, if the groom is at the shower he gets to enjoy some of the fun of opening presents especially if some of the gifts are very “groom friendly” like grilling classes, deep sea fishing or stock car racing. If your groom would like any of these gifts check out Registry10, it’s awesome!
I would love to use a theme like this for my sister’s wedding shower! Can you tell me where you got the table cloth? (I know my sister will love the patterned/navy look).
Love it, it’s awesome. We shot a Retro Wedding Luncheon the other day.
