Today’s lovely shoot draws inspiration from Karin’s (Clever Girl Consulting) country upbringing in Mendocino, California. Through her shoot, Karin shares some of her personal inspiration to show brides a wedding that is casual, affordable, earthy, quirky, and especially intimate and personal. She hopes that as GWS readers view the feature, you’re feeling cozy and imagine having fun amidst the flora and fauna of a country town!
Mendocino is a quant artist town located 160 miles north of the Golden Gate Bridge. The kind of town where people leave their doors unlocked; where the one-stop light on Hwy 1 is a welcomed relief to the crazy traffic back-ups in larger cities; and where neighbors and friends drop by your home unannounced to sit for a spell and chat or drop off a home-cooked meal. Thanks so much to Edyta Szyszlo Photography for the gorgeous photos + styling also!
Gorgeous invites by San Francisco based studio, Hello!Lucky.
The all-fern bridal bouquet was “just picked” from the Redwood forest on the farmhouse property. Such a fresh + simple look when paired with the Anthropologie maxi dress.
The couple in the shoot are a real life couple who are not only partners in love, but also music. They’re folk singers, down-to-earth, and most importantly in love! I love that Gwyn + Monko brought their instruments along for the shoot and spent time playing for each other. If you’d like to check out their music, you can listen here. :)
I love his bow tie and her sweet hair flower! We will be sharing an easy DIY to create the pretty flower pin later today! :)
The tablescape was foraged from the forest + beach: moss covered wood, Queen Anne’s lace, fossilized rocks, and wildflowers from the field. The table, chairs, china and flatware are all part of Karin’s mother’s farmhouse stash, accumulated through countless antique shops and flea markets visits over the years. This is a great demonstration of how normal items that people might have in their home or gardens can make a creative, thoughtful table.
The food for the shoot featured Karin’s mother’s fried chicken and fixings. Below is local beer from nearby Boonville, Anderson Valley Boont Amber, along with some “moonshine” whiskey from Charbay in St. Helena, CA called Doubled & Twisted.
Thanks so much to all these creative artists for sharing their talents with us today!
