As an English teacher who studied art history, Pamela’s vision for her wedding was torn in two seemingly disparate directions. From Pamela, “I am drawn to the beauty of geometric shapes and pops of cool, fluorescent colors, an aesthetic wonderfully pervasive in Los Angeles. Yet, the other half of me, the romantic who loves to indulge in Regency era literature, has always pictured my wedding as a flurry of soft, muted watercolors, organic, tumbling flowers, and metallic details. I spent months researching art, fashion and flowers that inspired me and hoped the concept could come together cohesively .
Luckily Pamela + Eric worked with incredible vendors who immediately understood the study in contrasts they were looking for. In the Now helped design a perfect mix of lucite + hexagons along with a distinct British garden feel with florals from Honey and Poppies. Megan from Honey and Poppies arranged modern, faceted geometric bowls with delicate protea, dahlias and succulents. She filled handmade Piegon Toe ceramic footed bowls with undone, organic collections of wild flowers, vines, and blackberries. She also created one of my favorite details of the wedding, a stunning blushing bride protea, berry, and wild flower crown. The crown leaves were gilded and tiny blackberries spilled down over the flowers. It is the most perfect thing I had ever seen.

There was this lovely moment right after we said our vows, exchanged rings, and walked up a staircase to a small nook at the top of the venue. My husband was still holding our dog Larry, whom he scooped up as we walked back down the aisle. We both stood together holding hands, laughing, and sipping spicy cocktails. It was the perfect moment of intimacy and calm before the celebration with family and friends began.
To contrast the romantic florals, I worked with Erika and Amanda from In the Now to design modern lucite invitations, wrapped in soft grey, peach, and gold . Our programs included layered geometric shapes set against cool pastels, all bound together by gold thread. Our escort cards, inspired by a photo I had seen years ago, became a multicolored lucite installation piece, each geometric shape hand vinyled with guest names and tables. It was a true collaboration and labor of love.
In addition to design and decor, my husband and I had a series of personal details that we wanted to incorporate. Eric has a love of scotch and whiskey, so we knew we wanted to include a whiskey tasting bar. Our venue had the perfect space for this, a small pink closet that we draped in hand painted lanterns. Also, we are both addicted to spicy food and love spicy cocktails. So, we decided we needed to feature drinks that shared our love for all things sriracha. Heirloom L.A created incredible spicy cocktails, the “Pho Swizzle”, which featured ginger bourbon and homemade sriracha swizzle stick/lollipops, and a spicy, smoky tequila and chili based drink called “Mezcal Viet”. It combined our obsession with Los Angeles’ incredible collection of food and culture. Our favors were bottles of homemade sriracha salt, a huge group effort, that we bottled and labeled with tiny metallic bows and cardstock printed with facets and geometric angles.
The last important detail was finding a way to honor my father, who passed away 12 years ago and who was never able to meet Eric. My dad John was English and raised me on classic British comedies, so we decided to play episodes of Fawlty Towers, his favorite show, on the large projection screen in the front of the venue. It was difficult, but wonderful, to be dancing with my husband, family, and friends, and to look up to see such a wonderful memory I shared with him.
The best advice I have for anyone planning a wedding is to work with people you trust and respect. Each and every person we worked with throughout the planning process was incredibly generous with their time, energy, and support. I chose many of our vendors based on who I wanted to be around the day of our wedding and I was not disappointed. They all love what they do for a living and loved love. I feel as though one of the many joys of this wedding was getting to work with such a creative, inspiring, and dedicated team of professionals.

This wedding is SO cool! They weren’t kidding when they said geometric. I love the wedding invitations, though simple but oh-so-elegant. You could easily get yourself DIY wedding invite kits and do them yourself. So easy to do, but beautiful in the end. And I love the garland of geometric colour plastic. I might do that for my kids room :)
