Are you flirting with the idea of throwing a ‘Friendsgiving’ party this year? Not completely sure what Friendsgiving is? No worries – we’ll explain! While there is no *exact* definition of the term, it typically is held the day before actual Thanksgiving (so on a Wednesday), with all of your best pals! However, for those that don’t have family nearby, or perhaps those who just want to celebrate with friends and be thankful + merry, it could take place anytime around Thanksgiving (can we vote for a year-round Friendsgiving?) The first mention of the word was in 2009 (shout-out to Urban Dictionary) – and there it was described to be popular among college students who couldn’t travel home due to a lack of funds or their work schedule… Thus Friendsgiving was born. But we’re pretty sure it’s been going on way, WAY longer than that!
Today’s styled shoot is as much to celebrate Friendsgiving as it is to inspire others to host their own annual celebration + wow their friends without spending a fortune. Located in the middle of a corn maze in Oklahoma, photographer Emily Watkins gathered up a team of creatives to make this festive party come to fruition. Emily shares I really wanted to create a refreshing + modern take on Thanksgiving décor that others could recreate… And I wanted it to be budget friendly! I really love throwing a party – especially this one that celebrates friends, focuses on giving thanks and counting your blessings.
Get ready, because we’re pretty darn sure you’ll want to host your own party after!!
