A Colorful + Contemporary Garden Wedding at Le San Michele in Texas

Texas Garden Wedding

There is something truly magical about the way the light hits the horizon of Texas right at golden hour… The pale, misty blues and greens hues of the landscape are met with curtains of gold and a pastel sky that almost looks as if it’s on fire. For Meg + Mike, who are a super creative couple (she seeks out talent for Austin’s biggest music festivals, and he edits films), this was above and beyond their wildest dreams. Their wedding day was a true reflection of them; a creative, laid-back celebration of love amongst the outdoors.

Bringing European-inspired vibes to the heart of Hill Country, Texas, Le San Michele served as the perfect backdrop for all the amazing details of the day, designed brilliantly by Bird Dog Weddings. Antique French tables punctuated the sun-soaked gardens; they were covered with earthy linen runners and a smattering of colorful desert flowers such as blush king proteas, mint green cacti and gold ranunculus. And wait ’til you see the ceremony space — the iron arch is covered entirely with colorful florals, while a trail of Turkish rugs highlights the pathway.

Whimsical. Magical. Delightful. Ready to see all the details captured by Sophie Epton Photography? Let’s look!

Their photographer, Sophie, shares Meg wore a stunning crochet + floral gown that fit perfectly with the venue, and that HAIR by Method Hair! She nearly floored Mike during their first look, and it made their couple portraits that much more special.

Such a stunning venue + couple! We’re fond of the little pops of color displayed throughout, especially in her bouquet by Rosehip Flora.

We both love West Texas and had originally planned to get married out there, but the travel would have made it difficult for our families to attend so we stayed in Austin. We decided to try and bring the desert to us in little ways like incorporating the colors of a desert sunset and having succulents and cacti in our floral arrangements and on our cupcakes.

Our Favorite Memory From The Wedding

It was the ceremony for both of us. A close friend married us and it was so wonderful and intimate. We were both worried that we would get stage fright beforehand, but while it was happening it felt like we were the only people there. It was such beautiful moment for us.

Our Advice To Those Planning Now

Make sure to have someone to coordinate the day of because no matter how prepared you are you will be overwhelmed, and hire a great wedding photographer. The wedding was such a blur. There was so much that our photographer, Sophie Epton, captured that we would have totally missed otherwise.

Meg + Mike share We wanted the wedding to be a chance for all of our friends and family to come together and have a good time so we ditched a lot of the traditional wedding stuff like a first dance and a cake cutting and kept things relaxed. It was great because it just felt like a big party; everyone had more time to mingle and get to know each other.

Now that’s one party we would like to be at. Congrats, you two!
