60’s-Inspired Pastel Wedding: Kristine + Lisle

60s pastel wedding

Happy Monday, lovely friends! We’re excited to kick the week off with a beautiful 60’s-inspired Chicago celebration, hosted at Prairie Production. Kristine + Lisle’s wedding day was filled to the brim with the prettiest vintage touches + a relaxed and romantic pastel color story. Kristine wore a dreamy custom blush pink gown from Avail & Co. and they served their guests breakfast for dinner, as a nod to their first date at a diner. Love that they truly did things their way, and didn’t fuss with or worry about sticking with tradition. Here’s more about the day from Kristine:

We had toyed with several themes (mid century modern, Wes Anderson, 60’s New Years Eve), but felt that with the budget we had, we couldn’t do any of them justice. Lisle and I both gravitate towards vintage things anyway, so we just started collecting pieces that we liked. Everything started coming together when my bridesmaid, Emily, created a mood board for us with photos of everything we had. We were very lucky, everything just worked. We called our mood board “honky chateau.”

Big thanks to The Weaver House for the super gorgeous photography and congratulations to Kristine + Lisle on a lovely day!

Don’t settle on the things that mean a lot to you. I’m a dress lady. You will rarely ever see me in pants, but trying to decide on a wedding dress was not easy. I had 18 concepts of my dress made before Rachel (of Avail & Co) started putting it together. I felt a little crazy while we were going back and forth with designs, but the dress turned out beautifully and I wouldn’t have had it any other way.

We focused on the music to make the wedding feel very personal. Lisle and I are both musicians, so we picked every song with care to make our wedding feel like a personal reflection of us.

Our Favorite Memory From The Wedding

We were just in awe seeing all of our friends and family who traveled near and far to be there and support us for our wedding. It was really amazing.

Our Advice To Those Planning Now

If you are planning everything on your own, consider hiring a day-of-coordinator. We had the ceremony and reception in the same space and collected so much stuff that the thought of having us or our family and friends coordinate all of that was daunting. I loved all of our vendors, but I have no idea how the day would have gone without Katie at Smitten Bride. We spent a lot of time collecting things and creating special details for wedding. Having someone execute the vision allowed us relax and really enjoy the day.

Also, take some time to write your vows! They're so important, but can be difficult to write. I stressed about writing them for two weeks before the wedding.
