I love this idea for the couple who really want to make a unique first impression about their wedding. Perfect if you love band posters, movie posters, or just want something different! The invitations are more like event posters than traditional wedding invitations, describing the date and location of the wedding as if it were a long-anticipated concert. A lot of these come from designers who really want to create a unique piece of artwork, but there are vendors who specialize in this new type of invite. You can mail them in a tube, so no one can say it got lost in the mail!
Another great idea is to frame and mat the poster with no glass, and set it out at the reception for friends and family to sign the mat with their best wishes. You will have a great unique piece of art to always remember your wedding!

Hope designed the invite and they silkscreened 125 limited edition posters (which they mailed in poster tubes) to all their guests. Hitched in the Hood Poster from handmadejulz flickr page. Poster Bride is the Seattle duo of Matt Terich and Tere Mendez, two designers who have been in the poster industry since 2002 and have created posters for bands such as Sufjan Stevens, Trail of Dead, Pinback, Decemberists, Bloc Party, Minus the Bear, and many more. “Quite simply, we make posters… for weddings. Much like the silkscreened posters you might see for a play or a concert, only tailored for you and your event. Each invitation is unique, sketched by hand, rendered onto film, transferred to a silk screen, and carefully printed by us for you” Below are two samples from their site.
Etsy store unless someone like you offers a similar idea. You can select from numerous designs in the store that are then custom designed from your photos or other instructions. The posters measure 11 x 17″. Here you’re paying for design only, so you’ll need to organize your own printing and buy some cardboard tubes to send them out it, but they are extremely affordable. Below are some samples from their store.
