Would You Get Married in an Ice Castle?

Ice Castles Wedding Inspiration

You may have daydreamed of getting married in a far-off castle one day — but how about one made entirely of ice? Enter Edmonton, Canada. “Magical” is a modest term (at best) to describe the winters here. Oprah called the Ice Castles “straight out of a fairy tale,” and who are we to disagree?! Photographer, Laurie K. Jensen, assembled an impressive team of creatives to style an inspiring winter escapade, and the results are giving us chills!

Laurie shared a bit of the vision for the day: Our intention was to show couples that winter weddings can be just as beautiful and to consider a day-after (or before) session to make the most of their wedding attire and celebrations by getting pictures taken on a separate day. We purposely chose to visit the ice castles on a weekday afternoon where there weren’t many visitors so it felt like we had the place all to ourselves! Because the days are much shorter in the winter, we also were able to take these photos right before sunset, which made for the most gorgeous lighting!

Ready to see Laurie’s stunning photos? Let’s go!

Nothing like a little blush against that natural blue! Maison Bridal provided the porcelain pink gown from the Willowby line by Watters.

Notice anything different about that beautiful bouquet? Go ahead, take another look…

It’s made out of PAPER! Wheat & Wildflowers created this masterpiece and we LOVE the idea! This is an amazing option for couples who want their florals to last beyond their wedding day and maybe even opt for florals that aren’t in season!

We think day-after shots are a fun and memorable way to get some more wear out of that wedding attire! And an enchanting destination certainly doesn’t hurt :)
