Did you watch the Golden Globes last night? One of my favorite events is watching the Red Carpet – LOVE seeing all the pretty dresses and what the stars are wearing! It’s also a great place to get ideas for your wedding fashion. Thought I would share some of my favorite trends + looks I saw last night and how you can incorporate them into your day.
I totally fell in love with all the pretty blush + champagne gowns on the carpet. Loved Glee’s Heather Morris in a Lorena Sarbu gown and Dianna Agron’s J Mendel gown was one of my absolute favorites. I think either would make a gorgeous wedding dress. Also loved Kaley Cuoco (pictured below) in Katharine Kidd.
Here are some gorgeous options I found available now if you love the blush color trend. Gowns by Jenny Packham, Vera Wang and Jenny Packham. Keeping with these pale pretty colors were Scarlett Johansson in a gorgeous Elie Saab dress and Sandra Bullock’s intricately-beaded Jenny Packham dress.
Looking to bring some pretty beading and vintage details to your dress? Love these options by Elie Saab, Jenny Packham, Madison, and Saja.
Another trend I loved was the simple, elegant look of these Calvin Klein dresses that Claire Danes and Emma Stone wore. So elegant and effortlessly beautiful. This would be such a beautiful look for a wedding dress. Nicole Miller has two gorgeous options below and the dress on the bottom right is by Saja.
Emerald Green! Love that so many celebs wore this fun color. So bright + pretty. Catherine is wearing a Monique Lhuiller dress, Mila is wearing Vera Wang and Angie is wearing a sparkly Versace gown. I think this color would make such a gorgeous wedding dress and so did this bride below! So pretty, right? The photos below are from a wedding photographer Susan Dean shared with me.
Maybe a green dress is too much? I think green shoes – big surprise! :) – would be a great touch or maybe your bridesmaids in the pretty emerald.
Top left shoes are irregular choice with photo by Elizabeth Messina, Miss Sixty pumps, green boots are also irregular choice. Dresses: Anthropologie, The Dessy Group, Joanna August
Loved all the pretty loose waves we saw on the carpet. Pretty and not super formal – love that.
And the sparkly metallics. Oliva Wilde’s dress was like heaven to me – my definite favorite of the night. It was a sequined dress by Marchesa. So dreamy and pretty. Swoon…. Also loved Anne Hathaway sexy open-back Giorgio Armani Privé gown. An entire sequined gown might be a bit much for you, so why not wear this trend with your shoes! And the best part – you will totally wear these sparkly metallic shoes again! Lots of options out there now, some of my favorites below in all price points :)
1. Glint 2. Topshop boots 3. Kate Spade 4. Kate Spade Ballet Flats 5. Chinese Laundry 6. BCBG 7. Nine West
What do you think, will you wear any of these trends for your wedding? Who was your favorite on the Red Carpet?

Amazing roundup!
I have to agree with you that a lot of the red carpet gowns could be wedding gowns, too. I love the beaded styles, and the blush/nude colored looks!
That green wedding dress is simply beautiful! So lovely to see something unusual but still classic and gorgeous. And Anne Hathaway’s sequins are fabulous, too. I just wish your Calvin Klein inspired dresses had featured some of those wonderful gelato shades, too. White is only the expectation if we keep on putting it out there!
I’ve always wanted a green wedding dress! I think you can do any color now-a-days!
Woot! Yah, let’s bring some red carpet sparkle to weddings this year!
ScarJo, swoon! :) really loved Olivia Wilde’s dress!!!!
Those dresses are amazing, really love them. And green shoes… Could anyone tell me what they are?
Yes, yes, yes! I adore those blushes and champagnes! Pale shades of gold are fabulous too, though they didn’t really make an appearance at the Globes.
What was truly fabulous was the appearance of sleeves. Not everyone wants a strapless wedding gown, nor do they want puffy balloon sleeves circa 1983. Those long, fitted sleeves and the shorter flowy numbers are the cat’s pajamas!
I loved all the green from the red carpet event this year! In my opinion, green makes an elegant gown!
Isabel – The green shoes on the left are by Irregular Choice and the ones on the right are by Miss Sixty :)
i’m so tired of people questioning bold color wedding dresses! it’s 2011! that bride is STUNNING in her green gown. so refreshing to see.
Such a fun post! Love your ideas and that you showed how to take the ideas into your wedding day and not just your favorite dresses. Now I think I need sparkly shoes – since I can’t afford a sparkly dress!! :)
I have been dreaming about Scarlett’s dress since I saw it the other night. So gorgeous. I love seeing all these put together, though – so inspiring!
Sandra Bullock’s dress is TO DIE FOR. Too bad about the hair… And I was also really happy to see sleeves that were actually youthful and pretty.
Jenny Packham is my favorite designer right now and I was lucky enough to scoop one of her dresses for my August wedding!
this post is every girl’s dream :D
jen! what a great gg post! :)
LOVE this post! Gorgeous dresses that are definitely red carpet inspired. I love the dress pictured directly under Sandra Bullock’s image, which designer is that by?
I loved the fashion, hair, and makeup seen at the Golden Globes, really beautiful and definitely bridal beauty appropriate. Olivia Wilde was my favorite (dress, hair, accessories, shoes, and makeup) across the board as well!
Bre- That dress is by Jenny Packham – one of my favorite designers right now. :)
Thanks everyone! So happy you guys loved the post. Can’t wait for the Oscars!! :)
Love the champagne color bridal dresses.
I love that emereld green wedding gown – does anyone know the designer? Thanks!
Leanne
I can’t find the first Nicole Miller dress anywhere. Has she released that dress yet? It is perfect for my body type. I would love it paired with the simple hair.
Can not wait! Got it? This movie was worth waiting for!
