Washington Wheat Field Wedding: Sara + Jay

walla walla wedding

Sara + Jay’s beautiful wheat field wedding took place at Sara’s family’s property – in the middle of nowhere! – in Walla Walla, Washington. Surrounded by nothing but endless, golden wheat fields + rolling hills, the two of them were able to transform the family farmhouse into a beautiful venue, while still infusing their fun + quirky personalities into the design. I’m super in love with their punchy palette of coral, cyan + yellow, and how it plays off of the minimal, rustic surroundings. And while it might be your instinct to go with a totally rustic theme when your wedding venue is a farm, Sara + Jay weren’t afraid to instead craft a day that had a unique, retro-but-modern feel. Talk about going with your gut + making your day a true reflection of the two of you! Here’s more about it all from Sara:

It was really important for me to get married outside, near the land, and luckily we have such a wonderful family and friends to make it happen in Walla Walla. We each had things that were important to us and we tried hard to allow each other to have their ‘must haves’ and in the end it all blended so well. Being outside, near the garden & land, with seasonal flowers was important to me, while Jay really wanted live music and to design the printed materials. Oh, and the food was important to us also. I just wish I had more of it! The colors were easy, they were colors that we both loved.

Big thanks to Carina Skrobecki Photography for the lovely photography + congrats to the newlyweds on a beautiful day!

Sara looked gorgeous in a breezy gown by The English Dept., paired with a pretty Twigs & Honey headband. And Jay looked sharp in a slim-fitted suit by Suit Supply.

Our Favorite Memory From The Wedding

For me it was the actual ceremony, hearing Jay's vows, but I also just loved the fact that all our friends were able to come to the place (farm) that I love and share in our celebration. I was just so excited and happy with everything that day! I just can't thank everyone enough for all their help.

Jay is a super creative designer + tackled all of the paper good design himself! I’m crazy about the stylish escort cards he created, displayed inside an old farm hutch.

These portraits of Sara + Jay, captured by Carina during golden hour, are truly breathtaking!

Let’s talk about this bouquet for a sec! Sara carried a gorgeous cascading work of art by Meridith Isaacson. It included garden roses, dahlia, succulents, craspedia + wild jasmine vine. So, so pretty, right?!

Our Advice To Those Planning Now

I'd say don't worry too much, it all comes together. People won't remember the small things that didn't go smoothly, but rather they remember the overall experience. So we tried to focus on having an overall really fun event that we would want to attend.
