Vintage Alice in Wonderland Wedding Inspiration

When fabulous photographer (and recent bride!) Jessica Claire sent me some sneak peaks of this phootshoot she collaborated on with Kate Holt of Flowerwild and Rebecca Stone of Duet Weddings – I knew it would be amazing. And I was right – it’s simply beautiful! They are all so talented and come up with the most dreamy inspirations. A bit about the collaboration from Kate:

Sometimes I just feel inclined to make beautiful things for no reason at all. In this case -I was really moved to collaborate with certain talents in the wedding industry who understand beauty and seem to see things the same way I do. Intimacy, grace, subtle details. I have noticed so many of my lovely brides are looking to express themselves through their flowers, decor, and details on their big day and not in a uniform way. Moving towards smaller celebrations where all the people in attendance can really take note of all the gorgeous details, see all of the beauty and love that went into crafting the day, and come away feeling as if they just stepped out of a magical dream. As it should be. This wedding day is yours and is meant to leave an indelible mark in your memory.

That being said, this wedding inspiration is for all brides who are looking for that intimacy, who are in love with the idea of a wedding that blends romance, colors, fun and personalities.

Finding this gown at Unique Vintage truly set the tone for my whole vision. It is an original vintage piece with insanely gorgeous detailing, french lace, handmade flower appliques. So dreamy. The stunning bride holds an asymmetrical bouquet of huckleberry, french anemones, and sword fern. Clasped with a little fern frond brooch. I thought it would be fun to make a bouquet that’s not entirely traditional. Not all flowers, not round. I absolutely love the way the flowers complement and echo the detailing of her gown without being distracting.

Thankfully, I got a lot of help and guidance from my wonderful friend Rebecca Stone of Duet Weddings. She has a rare talent and I was so happy she was willing to come make the day run smoothly for me. We dressed the table with an array of depression era glass in dusty rose tones and muted amber. Turned on the color in the flowers, made the palette more juicy. This included scattering sugar dusted cherries, tangerines, pomegranites and pears between the arrangements. Wow…it felt so romantic. Decadent even.

So in the end…I think it is so important for brides to make this day their own and embrace the planning process with fun in mind. Because making something beautiful and memorable is like an exercise of love! With minimal sweat and tears ( I can attest to some tears on occasion and sweat for sure.)
