This Couple Said I Do in the Middle of Their Hometown Street!

Romantic Wedding in the Street

Sarah and Joe are uncomplicated, romantic, and grounded in their style… But last-minute construction issues arose, and made things a tad complicated. The duo figured if they couldn’t have their wedding in the original venue, why not take it to the streets and have a fun-filled block party style wedding?! Planner Ashton Events tells us It ended up being the best case scenario — they were able to host their nearest & dearest in a party on the streets of the city that they love so much! Market lighting was a subtle, but oh so lovely touch to frame out the space. It was evident that they wanted their community to share in every ounce of the gathering… and that’s exactly what happened!

Bringing a color palette of rich burgundy, greens, and marigolds to the street, the whole place was decorated by lush garlands and lanterns. Sarah shares We love great music, family, friends, food, craft cocktails, and dancing so the night revolved around all of those things! Moments after saying “ I do” we had an old fashioned toast with our closest family and friends — one of the most special and vivid memories of the night. We had two live musicians- one for cocktail hour and another during the reception.

I got my dress from Reformation and then had a local seamstress add some lace and make a few changes to make it my own. She killed it! What a way to customize a dress!

Flynn Skye made all the dresses for my ladies. They were out of stock on their website by the time we found them, but we were able to get them to custom make them for all eight girls! I also wore this dress in white for the reception.

Unfortunately these dresses aren’t available anymore, but we rounded up some of our current fave crimson dresses!

The welcome sign that goes back to the song lyrics S+J have sung to each other for years: “Your love is safe with me.” Guests signed the back of the wooden board, and it’s now a keepsake in their home!

Our Favorite Memory From The Wedding

Joe and I fell in love to a break up song, "Skinny Love" by Bon Iver. My three 'maids of honor re-wrote the lyrics to that song to tell our love story. It was the perfect combination of comedy and romance. It melts me and also makes me laugh out loud just thinking about.

S+J share a love for specialty ice cream sandwiches and cruffins (croissant + muffins), so for dessert, that’s exactly what they brought in! Those delicious looking cruffins are courtesy of Born & Bread.

Our Advice To Those Planning Now

Figure out what is most important to you and let the rest go. Everyone says this but that is because it’s true. Once you’re there and marrying the person you love most in the world nothing else matters. Make sure you’ve thought of what each of you care about most instead of trying to please everyone else. Prioritize and then above all — HAVE FUN throughout the entire process!!! Remind yourself you take a deep breath and savor the sweetness of it all. What’s it all for if you don’t look back on that time in your life fondly?

“Your love will be safe with me.” The sweetest!!
