The Resort at Paws Up for Your Wedding

Last month The Resort at Paws Up (also featured in our Top 26 Coolest Places to Get Married) hosted Green Wedding Shoes and a few top wedding planners to experience what they offer for couples who want to have a unforgettable ranch wedding. We had a blast experiencing each of the different venues that host wedding events, as getting to spend some time with some pretty rad people (both the trip participants and the awesome Paws Up team!).

The trip was kind of like summer camp. :) We all stayed in one of the Wilderness Estates (seen below). Each estate sleeps 4-8 people (in three master suites) and has it’s own hot tub, loft game room and cook’s kitchen.

The first night we all got to try some of they many activities they offer – perfect for a rehearsal dinner! We had fun learning to throw hatchets + knives (yes, I really did throw that knife!), fly fish and lasso.  Such a change from evening activities in Los Angeles :)

One of my favorite parts of the trip were the campfires we had each night. Such a fun way to spend the evening! Kelly (from Bash, Please) above left and Jason (my hubs + GWS partner) above right.

The next day we got a tour of the property and had a chance to check out all the possible areas for your wedding activities. The tour took quite a while, as they have over 37,000 acres and many options to consider! I love the Bull Barn (a restored old working barn) which would make a perfect space for the reception. We actually shared a real wedding from the Bull Barn a few months ago on GWS. I love that they’re willing to work with the couple so that you can have your weddings events wherever you would like. You could have your ceremony next to the river, overlooking the resort on a hill, in the barn, in the woods – whatever you dream of. :)

They also have one of the coolest Spas! Spa town is made up of the 8 or so tents you see above. You can have a massage in one of the tents with the most amazing views and just the sounds of nature – a perfect way to relax before the big day! :)

We got to experience a bunch of the daytime activities they offer too. Jason + I did a super fun hike along the river on our own one day. Other days we participated in group activities including: rafting, clay pigeon shooting (this was my first time shooting a gun – not sure if that is for me – but where else do you get to try that!?), and then another first – we went zorbing. What is zorbing? Well, you get into a giant plastic ball (yep, kind of like a hamster) and they push you down a hill. Kind of crazy, but glad we got to try it since I don’t think there are many places that offer that! :)

In addition to the rad activities, we all agreed that the activity guides were fantastic!  Aside from being knowledgeable about the resort and the activity at hand, each guide is really rad and full of great stories.  Our guides made it feel like we were hanging out with a new friend that just happened to be an expert at something you’ve never done before.  On our rafting trip, Brad (our guide) was nice enough to navigate our raft to make sure that us girls didn’t get hit with too many rapids….instead he positioned the boat so Jason took on most of the chilly water.  We all appreciated that and Jason eventually warmed up :)  It was so fun and such great scenery!

Um, how cute! Right? :) We saw a fun horse show one evening before dinner at the horse stable.  If you’re a fan of horses, the equestrian center is a unique location for you to serve dinner for during your wedding events.

On our last night, we visited River Camp. River camp is one of the luxury campsites for glamping. If you’ve been reading GWS for a while, you may remember my post about our glamping experience. One of the coolest camping experiences ever!! You can see one of their luxury tents below which has a super comfy bed, an attached bathroom complete with a shower, tub, running water, heated floors – pretty amazing…

Dinner was served in the camp pavilion overlooking the river, which provided a great soundtrack for the campfire later that night – such a gorgeous location. The food was delicious + served family style. That’s me below with the sweet Cortnie from Canvas and Canopy Events enjoying the yummy food + fun stories with our hubs. :)
