The Groom + Groomsmen Wore Green Charro Suits at this Wild Baja California Wedding

Rustic Mexico Wedding

For Jessee + Matt, having their wedding be one big party and to completely + fully celebrate the love between the two of them were the key things they wanted. So they rounded up their best pals, several green embroidered charro suits, a whole pig, tons of tequila in lieu of champagne, and headed to Hacienda Guadalupe, located in Baja California.

The bride, Jessee, grew up going to Mexico, her parents live there part-time now, it was the place that she and Matt first took a trip to together, and where Matt proposed. So naturally, their wedding had to be in Mexico! Jessee shares We always say as soon as we cross into Mexico all of our worries fly out the window + everything just feels easy. We wanted our entire wedding weekend to feel like that for all of our guests. We wanted all of our friends and family to have the best time and be comfortable doing it! We told them all to wear WHATEVER they wanted. There was no dress code, no rules. We wanted our wedding to feel how going to Mexico has always felt to us: easy + fun.

And from the photos captured by Matthew Morgan Photography, that’s exactly what their wedding was — carefree, exciting, and tons and tons of FUN! Let’s see how the whole thing went down with the help of designer Collected With Love

Jessee shares Before Matt and I even got engaged, he would always say, “If we get married, you have to promise me one thing… Craig gets to be in charge of my outfit.” Craig, otherwise known as “Costume Craig,” is one of Matt’s best friends, and is known for donning eccentric outfits for literally EVERY event. So needless to say, I knew what I was signing up for when I agreed, but I definitely didn’t know I was signing up for my future husband to be wearing an avocado green charro suit at our wedding!

Our Favorite Memory From The Wedding

Jessee: The most memorable part of our wedding day for me was reading the vows Matt had written to me. Matt + I decided to write each other vows in little books that we would both read first thing the morning of the wedding day. Right as my eyes opened, I reached over to the night stand and grabbed the book with so much excitement to see what he had written (he's not a very wordy guy so I couldn't wait to see what was in this book). I remember laying in bed with a grin from ear to ear and tears rolling down my cheeks. I was so overwhelmed with love + certainty that the choice I was making to marry this man was the best choice I've ever made in my life.

Matt: My most memorable part of the wedding was standing there in front of everyone. Boston (one of my best friends who married us) stopped the ceremony and let us take a deep breath and really take in the moment. Standing up there about to marry the woman of my dreams in front of all my family and closest friends - to me that moment in time everything froze and I looked around and was able to see every single person who appreciates me as much as I appreciate them.

The charro suits were custom made + embroidered straight from Guadalajara Mexico and didn’t show up until a week before the wedding. They also were missing the guys’ vests… When they finally showed up, Matt had to go on a hunt with “Costume Craig” to the Tijuana airport the day before the wedding to get them! I wish I could put into words the craziness that went into getting these charro suits!

The best part — Craig’s wife (who didn’t attend because she was 9 months pregnant) thought she was going into labor the night of rehearsal dinner. So “Costume Craig” drove home with his suit and missed the wedding. He did, however, wear his avocado green charro suit to the hospital for his new born baby’s delivery!

When Jessee’s parents got married (a little over 35 years ago) they held the wedding in her grandma’s yard and had a pig-pickin’ as part of the event! Since she was a little girl, that was one thing she dreamed about having at her wedding one day… Alas, they roasted a whole pig!

Our Advice To Those Planning Now

BREAK THE RULES! Make your wedding what you want it to be. Who says it has to look, feel, or be a certain way? Do what YOU want & screw the rest. Enjoy it! Focus on what is important: each other. Have fun + don't get stuck on the little things that at the end of the day don't matter.

How FUN was that?! So many cool ideas at play, too. Congrats, Jessee + Matt!!
