The Bride Hand Embroidered her Wedding Dress

Boho Czech Wedding

Tucked away in the woods, somewhere in the Czech Republic, was the most magical, bohemian + folk-inspired wedding. The bride and groom, Tereza + Stanislav, are extremely creative and wanted to handmake as many things as they could — from tables, décor and invitations, to the bride’s embroidered dress — they did it all! And not only was everything handmade, but most of it was eco-friendly and inspired by the forest. Tereza’s unique engagement ring is a golden fox and her wedding band is in the shape of a golden pine!

The bride shares We were looking for a venue for quite some time, but couldn’t find one that felt like us. I am a perfectionist and I’ve found that perfection can only be found in nature… So when we stumbled upon this abandoned sandstone quarry while walking our dog, Bandita, we knew in an instant it was THE place. However, there was nothing (no water, no electricity), yet we knew that we had all that we needed. We are both extremely crafty and found a way to make it work! The feel of it was incredible and all we needed to add were some twinkling lights, tambourines and a live folk band that played Balkan music!

It sure sounds like a blast! Let’s venture to the woods and see all the fun captured by Couple of Prague.

Tereza shares Journals are certainly not our thing, but both Stanislav and I wrote a few pages in one before and after the wedding… The words will bring you back to that moment and have the same power and impact as the familiar scents from your childhood. Months or years later it will bring up memories and feelings you forgot you once had.

Tereza is an illustrator + designer with a wildly creative mind… She saw the gorgeous white dress but knew she had to put her own touch on it and hand embroidered all the pretty details.

Tereza shares Going for a pop-up and a 100% DIY wedding was not the easiest route, yet it gave us the opportunity to make everything very personal and meaningful. When we stood at the place where the ceremony was going to be held, Stanislav picked up a large branch with a cone and we had it cast in gold and made into my wedding ring. So each time I look at my hand, it brings me back to that place.

Our Favorite Memory From The Wedding

The first dance... It wasn’t exactly a dance, but more of a very long kiss + cuddle, making in such an intense moment. We both finally relaxed in each others arms and were able to dance under the stars in such a unique place. We felt as if the universe was there only for us.

Our Advice To Those Planning Now

Many people thought we were crazy doing everything by ourselves – I hand embroidered my wedding dress and crafted over 80 invitations; Stanislav built our newlyweds teepee and some of the furniture. Together we made buckets of Elderflower syrup and baked many jars of sweets - but for us all of this was just a lovely time spent together and a way of enjoying the wedding day long before it arrived. All these things just made it more real, made us live for the moment and truly realize what was going to happen. I don’t think we would have the same experience if we only found the time to order stuff online. If you’re not a very much DIY person, try maybe only one thing, but take the time and indulge in it.
