An Eclectic Wedding at Condor’s Nest Ranch: Paige + Kyle

desert wedding

Since Paige was literally raised all over the world, their wedding had many different cultural influences that played into their day. Both Paige + Kyle are also very creative and worked with the lovely ladies at Carter and Cook Event Company on the perfect design for their day. They incorporated lots of color + texture inspired by their travels across the world and the years Paige lived in the Middle East. The couple chose Condor’s Nest Ranch which ended up being the perfect backdrop for the colorful details they brought it. Some of the custom details included country table names painted on zinc with gold fringe, custom Ikat table runners, gold bottles, textured dessert backdrop, and hand painted signs. Paige created a custom design, pulled from the rug they were married on, that was used on their save the dates, invitations and throughout the wedding details. And all the gorgeousness was captured by the amazing Studio Castillero. Congrats to Paige + Kyle!

The day was full of surprises! Paige surprised Kyle by hiring their favorite videographer (Craft House Productions), and Kyle surprised Paige by singing to her and playing the keyboard during the ceremony. Be sure to watch their gorgeous video by Craft House Productions below…

Congrats again to Paige + Kyle on their gorgeous wedding with lots of personal details!

Sew In Love

sew in love wedding inspiration

Today we are sharing lots of adorable ideas based around sewing – perfect for all you crafters and/or fashion designers out there. :) Even if that’s not you, there are still lots of pretty ideas to pull inspiration from today. Thanks so much to the lovely Aileen + Ellen of Love and Lavender for dreaming, designing and styling this lovely shoot. Thanks also to Simply Rosie Photography for the gorgeous photos.

For the main table they wanted something classic and sewing themed, but not overboard sewing. I love the chevron table runner which would be an easy DIY! They created it by spray painting the chevron pattern. The chargers were made out of cardboard and then covered in yarn and the pincushion place cards were another easy DIY project. For the centerpiece itself, they used tin cans and decorated them with fabric. Love how easy everything would be to recreate. :)

For the guest book, they wanted to create something that you could actually use in your home, rather than a book of names that collects dust – love that idea! Guests would sign a piece of fabric that would later be turned into a quilt – adorbs!

The other main item on the guest book table is the seating chart. Ellen inherited hundreds of wooden spools from her great-grandmother and Aileen came up with the idea to use them in the seating chart. They made it from a old frame, a piece of cardboard with fabric laid over and string! They topped the table off with a cute homemade “Sew In Love” sign and some giant spools they found at joanns on clearance.

And the dessert table! They used an old hutch and night stands as the structure. The yarn balls were made of wire covered in yarn and fabric strips hung for the backdrop.

When they think of sewing, they were inspired by fireplaces and comfort food. With that in mind, they made the decision that the main desserts would be cinnamon rolls and hot chocolate. To let the guests know the different options they embroidered a dessert menu, and had little tin cans full of the main topping (raspberry, peppermint, etc). The stunning cake is by Baked.

Ashley works in beverage distribution and the couple is majorly into beer. I just love their custom beer glasses they had made! They served beer from Ballast Point BreweryCoronado Brewery, and Green Flash brewery.

What is your favorite memory of the day? The favorite moment is hard. The whole day was enchanting. My husband says his favorite part of the day was at the end of the ceremony when I jumped off the end of the stage into his arms. It was totally unplanned and could have been a disaster. Instead it was perfect and we pulled it off without a hitch.

If I must pick I would say sneaking off and tasting the pies entered in the pie making contest. I was floored by how much time, effort, and talent everyone put into the pies! Picking Best in Show was our first very important joint decision as husband and wife; (tough it was.) I wish every major decision could be made by feeding each other pie.

Can you share any advice with those planning now? My recommendation for future brides is to make the day fun. Make a list of all of your favorite things to do, wear, eat, songs to hear, and people to be around … then make your wedding those things!

Also, make everyone a part of your day and you can really showcase peoples gifts! A great friend DJ’ed, groomsmen played music, people brought pies and we made a contest out of it, my brother roasted the coffee, my whole family/church/new family made everything from the bouquets, handmade napkins, circus tents, & hundreds of pinwheels to peanut jars and boutonnieres. Somehow they made every hair-brained idea I had magically materialize… and “shake and bake, we all helped!”

Such a FUN day! And that is what a wedding is really all about, right? You are celebrating your commitment to one another. Congrats to Ashley + Ricky and thanks so much for letting me share your fun day with everyone!
