Wedding Inspiration with Tangerine Tango

tangerine tango inspiration

If you are a big fan of color trends like me,then I’m sure you’ve heard by now that Pantone declared Tangerine Tango as their Pantone Color for 2012. While I’m not typically a fan of orange, I think this shoot today has totally changed my mind! Concept + styled by the lovely Kristy Rice of Momental Designs, this shoot involves watercolors + Tangerine Tango ideas for a gorgeous modern wedding. Kristy sketched and created the entire Trellis pattern for Envelopments and then designed the entire shoot around it bringing in custom made fabrics, chairs, paper chandeliers and of course a variety of stationery pieces. I just love all the hand painting that goes into Kristy’s work and this shoot goes to show it’s not only for the paper – the cakes, the chandeliers and even a paper flower bouquet with hand painting – simply stunning! Gorgeous photos thanks to Swoon Over It Photography.

Did you know that with Dessy Group you can customize their dresses with the exact Pantone color swatches?! How rad is that + super perfect to find the exact color of dresses you are looking for your wedding day. The dress above is from the Tangerine Tango Pantone swatch! :)

From Kristy, Overall the look is meant to be a mix of clean and organic but not overly fussy or feminine. Versatility is key and communicating the many faces of the Trellis pattern was important. The table itself was set with minimal fluff, where stationery and watercolor spatter place settings as the focus. The color palette is monochromatic at first glance with unexpected pops of complimentary tones here and there. Custom pattern fabric were used in upholstery throughout. Small cafe chair seats, large overstuffed lounge chair, etc…

The cakes were all made in collaboration with Truly Scrumptious. Trellis was hand painted + deconstructed on each.

A Girl Scout Inspired Bridal Shower

girl scout bridal shower

I absolutely love when brides do an activity that is a little unexpected for their bridal shower and so does this group of creative ladies I’m sharing today! Some of their favorite memories growing up were from Girl Scout camp and Indian Princess camp outs (as were mine – I just loved going to overnight camp with all my friends back in the day!) So, Beau & Arrow Events dreamt up this Girl Scout inspired fete with the hope that lots of brides would be inspired to do something adventurous for their own shower. I totally love how they added some glam touches to the Girl Scout feel a la Troop Beverly Hills, and toughed it up a bit with army elements for a sophisticated soiree. The gold + army colors balance out the girly jadeite green and pastel pinks used throughout. Gorgeous photos thanks to the lovely Katie Neal Photo. Oh, and fun detail for all you former Brownies and Girl Scouts – they are celebrating their 100th anniversary this year! So congrats on that. :)

The ladies at Posh Paperie did a superb job blending the inspiration into the paper elements. The information card on the invite read “Always Be Prepared” and told each guest to bring supplies for the bride’s wedding survival kit. A great way to get all of the girls involved with helping the bride prepare for the big day! They sprayed a lunchbox metallic gold and stuffed it full with everything she might need; lint roller, tissues, bobby pins, safety pins, compact mirror, breath mints, sewing kit, blotting tissues, deodorant, lotion, eye drops, band aids, static guard, and a stain remover pen. The front of the kit also read “Always Be Prepared.”

This custom luxe look is attainable through many DIY projects. The glittery gold bunting behind the cake table is a simple project you can do with your girls. The canteens (originally camo print) as well as the lanterns were transformed with a couple coats of metallic gold spray paint. The Troop sign was also hand made – with help from some power tools and craft letters from Michael’s! Another element we loved incorporating was the vintage Girl Scout paraphernalia. The Girl Scout handbooks that scattered the table and held up the centerpiece, as well as the official Girl Scout camera were great finds!

Stevi from Hey! There Cupcake designed a playful and elegant cake for the shoot that had a trefoil pattern on one tier and a sash with metallic badges on the other. Cupcakes were embellished with mini crests describing the different flavors; Scout’s Honor Strawberry, Do Si- I Do!, and I love Smores!

An Eclectic Anthropologie DIY Wedding: Jenn + Andy

bride and groom in a boat

As the store manager of an Anthropologie as well as avid vintage collectors, Jenn + Andy knew immediately that they wanted to go with an eclectic, vintage, DIY theme. They had no bridal party, no bouquet toss and a loose theme that allowed for lots of interpretation – which equals lots of fun to me! They also searched hard to find a venue that was unique and when they stumbled upon the amazing Coloma Country Inn, they knew they found the perfect location. Jenn wrote the ceremony herself, they boogied down the aisle to “Putting All My Eggs in One Basket” by Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong and danced through pom poms on the way out! Such a fun wedding! Thanks so much to our awesome sponsor Ashley Maxwell for the gorgeous photos and sending this wedding our way!

Most memorable moment of your wedding day?
Hands down the ceremony. I actually wrote the ceremony myself, so it was completely us! My friend who is an actress served as our officiant to make it extra special. We included a Native American blanket ceremony using a blanket from my husband’s great aunts sister handmade. Also included was a love box ceremony where we each placed hand written letters, a bottle of wine and glasses in. The box was locked and will be opened on our first anniversary to enjoy its contents, as well as place another set of letters and bottle of wine to enjoy on our next anniversary.

Any advice for those planning now?
Tailor the day to what you want to do vs. what is “the norm” at a wedding. Don’t be afraid to go against the grain. I got a lot of static from people for some of my choices, but once all the pieces came together people understood and loved it! People really enjoyed a different type of wedding.

If you want more info on their wedding and Jenn’s style, be sure to check out her blog Found in February! Congrats to Jenn + Andy for having your perfect wedding. :)
