A Girl Scout Inspired Bridal Shower

A Girl Scout Inspired Bridal Shower

girl scout bridal shower

I absolutely love when brides do an activity that is a little unexpected for their bridal shower and so does this group of creative ladies I’m sharing today! Some of their favorite memories growing up were from Girl Scout camp and Indian Princess camp outs (as were mine – I just loved going to overnight camp with all my friends back in the day!) So, Beau & Arrow Events dreamt up this Girl Scout inspired fete with the hope that lots of brides would be inspired to do something adventurous for their own shower. I totally love how they added some glam touches to the Girl Scout feel a la Troop Beverly Hills, and toughed it up a bit with army elements for a sophisticated soiree. The gold + army colors balance out the girly jadeite green and pastel pinks used throughout. Gorgeous photos thanks to the lovely Katie Neal Photo. Oh, and fun detail for all you former Brownies and Girl Scouts – they are celebrating their 100th anniversary this year! So congrats on that. :)

The ladies at Posh Paperie did a superb job blending the inspiration into the paper elements. The information card on the invite read “Always Be Prepared” and told each guest to bring supplies for the bride’s wedding survival kit. A great way to get all of the girls involved with helping the bride prepare for the big day! They sprayed a lunchbox metallic gold and stuffed it full with everything she might need; lint roller, tissues, bobby pins, safety pins, compact mirror, breath mints, sewing kit, blotting tissues, deodorant, lotion, eye drops, band aids, static guard, and a stain remover pen. The front of the kit also read “Always Be Prepared.”

This custom luxe look is attainable through many DIY projects. The glittery gold bunting behind the cake table is a simple project you can do with your girls. The canteens (originally camo print) as well as the lanterns were transformed with a couple coats of metallic gold spray paint. The Troop sign was also hand made – with help from some power tools and craft letters from Michael’s! Another element we loved incorporating was the vintage Girl Scout paraphernalia. The Girl Scout handbooks that scattered the table and held up the centerpiece, as well as the official Girl Scout camera were great finds!

Stevi from Hey! There Cupcake designed a playful and elegant cake for the shoot that had a trefoil pattern on one tier and a sash with metallic badges on the other. Cupcakes were embellished with mini crests describing the different flavors; Scout’s Honor Strawberry, Do Si- I Do!, and I love Smores!

A Retro Co-ed Wedding Shower

A Retro Co-ed Wedding Shower

I love this idea so much! I’m always excited to share ideas for your bridal shower since I think that is such a fun event during the planning that is often overlooked. Well, today we have a fun twist on the traditional all female bridal shower – why not make it co-ed?! Inspired by a pair of wood sunglasses from ProofTonya Peterson and her talented design team styled a fun, retro hipster co-ed wedding shower that would appeal to both men and women. They used the glasses as the favors and then as part of the design for the invitations + menu.

DIY: Bridal Shower Popsicle Party

DIY: Bridal Shower Popsicle Party

diy bridal shower popsicle party

So after looking at all those yummy popsicles in the post this morning, we got to thinking about how fun it would be to make your own popsicles for a bridal shower or even a rehearsal dinner/picnic. So many flavor options – and if you make them yourself, you can add booze to them! Who wouldn’t love a booze popsicle. :) I tried making a few different kinds of popsicles – mixing some of my favorite flavors with vodka, prosecco and tequila and seeing how they turned out. I have to say they were pretty tasty and Jason definitely loved this project since he got to help taste test each of the 4 flavors I created. :) So,  I’m sharing my two favorite recipes I created and links to a few other yummy sounding recipces to try. I hope you’ll try one of those or create your own – the possibiles are endless! And if you create your own, I’d love to hear your flavor combination in the comments!

I found lots of interesting recipes while doing research for this DIY. Some I’m looking forward to trying are below: Cantaloupe and Kiwi Daiquiri Pops, 4th of July Cocktail Cooler Pops, Cherry Apple Whiskey Sour Pops, Cucumber Honeydew Margarita Pops

Don’t feel like making your own pops – or just not enough time? – although making them was pretty easy and didn’t take that long to make! :) Anyways, I found this cute idea below from Southern Living – a glass of Prosecco with a popsicle in it! Sounds tasty and summery to me.

So, what do you guys think? Anyone off to make some popsicles this weekend? What flavors are you excited to try? I’d love to hear them. I also made a watermelon mojito pop that was pretty tasty – and just remembered I have a few left in the freezer. Think I know what I’m having for a snack this afternoon! :)
