Kim + Matt met in Brooklyn – Matt was managing a café + Kim came in for soup. They had some funny + flirty flatware dilemma and the rest is history. :) So, there was no question that their wedding would take place in Brooklyn. They had so many personal details which I just love and Kim is wearing one of my favorite BHLDN dresses. She looks so gorgeous! Congrats to Kim + Matt and thanks so much to Made U Look Photography for the stunning photos!

From Kim, “Matt had given me a DNA trace kit for Christmas that traced my DNA on my mothers side back to West Africa (he’s a geneticist). He then sourced a champagne colored conflict free diamond from West Africa and presented that along with silver ore from Idaho (where he grew up) in a little box when he proposed. He then found a jeweler in Brooklyn who took those elements and made the engagement ring. The idea was to have a symbol that linked our beginnings to our present and into our future. He also presented what he called a ‘ghost ring’ in the engagement box, which was a champagne colored acrylic representation of a classic Tiffany set diamond ring from the artist by:AMT. He asked me to wear that as a placeholder for the ring to come.” Wow! I just love that. Those awesome fingerprint rings below are by Fabuluster.

Love that they did their first look and portraits in a café since that is where they met – so cute!

Oui ring also from BHLDN and such a perfect wedding day accessory.

They used antique keys for the seating placement, which they fell in love with after walking over the Pont des Art bridge which is covered in locks engraved with sets of initials while vacationing in Paris – which Jason + I stopped by yesterday and left a lock with our names also! :) The locks are meant to symbolize eternal love. Kim + Matt fashioned their own homage to this tradition by creating the love keys to symbolize the keys to their hearts.

Ok, I just LOVE this idea. Their reception was filled with terrariums on the tables, which guests made and participated in a Terrarium Challenge. If guests wanted they brought their own terrarium they made especially for the wedding and then everyone voted and awards were given by Kim + Matt and they also had a People’s choice. Such a great idea to get friends + family involved – and it worked out great since they then used all these for their centerpieces!

Food was served from a traditional Brooklyn style food truck – Mexicue. :) And instead of toasts, the couple had moth-style stories told by their dear friends + family. Super fun!

Such a beautiful + personal wedding! Congrats to Kim + Matt! And if you are loving their terrariums, stay tuned for our fun terrarium DIY we will be sharing later today!
