A Sweet Proposal with Lots of Balloons

balloon proposal caught on video

I just love when I get emails from the groom! Today’s super sweet proposal was sent in by Patrick who planned a pretty amazing proposal for his girlfriend Kimberly (who turns out is a GWS reader! YAY!). After watching this sweet video, I just had to share it with you lovelies. Congrats to Patrick + Kimberly and big thanks to Nathan + Lori Puhr with Shutter Life Productions who created this film. Love the choice of music also which includes Generator ^ First Floor by Freelance Whalesand and Blindsided by Bon Iver. Oh, and grab a tissue, think you might need it! :)

Handmade Vintage Circus Wedding: Romy + Kevin

vintage circus wedding

Romy + Kevin had the sweetest vintage circus wedding last summer. So fun to hear that Romy got a lot of her ideas from GWS also! :) Romy + Kevin are a fun couple and really just wanted their wedding to be fun! Romy has always loved the circus and wanted their wedding to reflect that, but in a tasteful way and I’ll think you’ll agree she succeeded in both! Their wedding took place at the beautiful Murrieta’s Well Winery in Livermore, California and included lots of DIY elements. Romy spent over a year making crepe paper flowers to incorporate with the bouquets, table arrangements and boutonnieres. She also painted lots of little animals to use as the balloon weights and stacked them for centerpieces. Working with a close friend (and bridesmaid), they designed the fun circus invitation suite and all the other paper details. Big congrats to the happy couple + thanks so much for sharing your day with us today! :)

Romy also crafted the cute bird cake topper and made the mini pennant garland out of washi tape for the cake. Kevin built the red + white scalloped cake stand and boxes for their circus themed dessert buffet.

My favorite memory of the wedding was towards the end when all of our family and friends surrounded us with hugs on the dance floor and we all sang Al Green's "Let's Stay Together". That was the absolute peak of my evening!

Document everything with photos as much as possible! Even though the planning process is stressful it is still part of the wedding. I tried to take as many pictures as possible while making all of our projects because both Kevin and our friends worked together on everything and I wanted to cherish that as a part of our wedding memories!

Thanks so much Romy + Kevin! If you want to see more of Romy’s details, check out this post on her blog.

A Patriotic Airplane Hanger Wedding: Janice + Tom

airplane hanger wedding

When Janice + Tom talked about their wedding they both decided they really wanted it to be a reflection of them and their interests. After a long discussion, Tom jokingly mentioned his only wish for their wedding was that there was a giant American flag. :) Well, Janice loved it and the whole thing exploded from there. Since Tom is going to school for aviation mechanics and they both love all things vintage, they knew as soon as they visited the Planes of Fame Museum (with vintage planes and an old airplane hanger) that it was the perfect location! I love the patriotic feel to their whole day and Janice’s red shoes! Thanks so much to Brady Puryear for sending this one my way and congrats to Janice + Tom!A

Favorite Memory of the day? I would have to say that my favorite memory was the actual ceremony itself. Our pastor did a wonderful job at telling our story as well as emphasizing the importance of both the decision we were making and our need for Christ in our union.

The jam jar favors were made by the couple and their family + friends helped with the flowers. Janice’s talented sister designed all the signs, invites + stickers on jars while their aunt made the cake. Super talented family here! :)

Any advice for brides planning now?

Something Tom really wanted was that all our guests had a good time at our wedding. Very often guests are left to wait a long time with nothing to do. So we made sure our guests had games to play while waiting, as well as docents to lead tours of the museum while we were out taking pictures and what not. So I guess what I’m saying is, make sure you do not forget about your guests. I feel it can be so easy to do when getting caught up in the other millions of things that are involved in planning a wedding. :)
