Summer Solstice Flower Party

Summer Solstice Party

Let’s face it: getting back to reality after a sunny, long holiday weekend can be kind of a drag. But we have a stylish Summer Solstice flower party to share that is sure to make your Wednesday exponentially better in about 2 seconds flat. Jill from Layered Vintage dreamt up an event to celebrate summer blooms and the amazing women she’s met – virtually and IRL – since launching her floral design business. The idea was to catch up with old friends, make new friends, and give everyone the chance to put faces to the Instagram names seen daily in their feed. (Such a great idea, don’t you think?)

Jill tells us, I wanted us to share horror stories, laugh at funny wedding hiccups and freak out over pretty flowers. Also, anyone with a new venture or project going on could share that with the group so we could support and get involvedSummer is something to celebrate as are nature’s finest ingredients: flowers, but I also believe that women supporting women is something to really celebrate!

Let’s see more from this pretty, pretty day in Katie Pritchard’s gorgeous captures below…

pressed flower invitation

I love Maggie of Type and Title and asked if she would collab on an invite. I always take leftover blooms and either dry them to embellish gifts or keep around the house or press them. The pressed ones have yet to make an appearance anywhere and so I thought it would be fun to have them as detailing on the invite. I am a huge advocate for snail mail and so each guest got a large mailer with their very own handmade invite as a keepsake.

Marie and Jamie of Root Cellar Catering Co. whipped up an all vegetarian summer menu filled with yummy eats like a mixed green salad with edible flowers + vegan bahn mi sandwich. (And such pretty calligraphy signage by Studio Von Berg!)

Megan of One Hope Wine dreamt up some tasty summer cocktails booth with bubbly, edible flowers that cooled the ladies off while they mingled. And Sweet Lydia’s provided delectable desserts like a flower topped naked cake + PB&J macarons!

Tatum of Love Tatum brought her sparkly druzzy gems for us all to wear. Vibrant, sparkly and made everyone feel just a touch more glamorous than when they arrived.

Summer Solstice Party

Everyone was told to wear their favorite summer dress and bring a dozen stems of their favorite flower. Jill threw out some ideas of things to create and asked everyone to pair up or work with someone they didn’t know. The ladies gathered together to make floral mandalas on the ground, some made bridal bouquets for each other and all the while chatting away and sharing stories. Jill says, It was so fun I never wanted it to end…

Instead of a goodie bag to take home I had mason jars with water ready for everyone to take their bouquets and assortment of blooms home along with gorgeous ribbons by We Love Citrus and Bellame Ribbon Co. Many of the ladies opted to style up their bouquets with their ribbon at the party and pose for the camera.

Looks like such a sweet event, right?! And the girls all had so much fun, so Jill is planning to throw another Summer Solstice party next year :) Thank to all the talented artists below for inspiring us this week!
