Jenna + George exchanged their vows at New York’s beautiful Blue Hills Farm, surrounded by their nearest + dearest and the farm’s artfully overgrown crops + foliage. Such a pretty, relaxed setting! This duo took a lighthearted approach when it came to planning their day, putting focus on key things that mattered to them, then tackling the smaller details as they came and allowing things to fall into place. It sounds simple, but can act as a big tip for those of you who are in the beginning stages of planning your wedding and are starting to stress about how things will come together. And here’s a bit of post-wedding insight from George:
Everybody says this but we really didn’t believe it – the night that you have been agonizing over to make everything go perfectly goes by in a flash – luckily, it was literally the most fun day of our lives and an amazing party with all our closest family and friends.
Big thanks to the talented Pat Furey for the gorgeous photography and congrats to Jenna + George on a beautiful day.
Since their venue was just 25 miles north of New York City, they choose to get ready at one of our faves, The Ace Hotel.
George wore a custom navy tuxedo by Miller’s Oath, paired with a classic black bow tie. Such a refined, stylish look!
And Jenna wore a custom dress, designed and made by Carol Hannah
My sister (George's) marrying us in the most heartfelt, genuine, and 'us' ceremony. Following that, our dance party!! Guests wouldn't leave the floor of the venue – it was like a concert. Always awesome to have a DJ so solid that your guests are shouting at the end of the night, "one more song!"
Processional: Here Comes the Sun – The Beatles
Recessional: You Make My Dreams – Hall & Oates
First Dance: That Girl – Justin Timberlake
The reception took place within the storied stone walls of the venue’s historical barn. The table design felt classic, yet stylish, and undeniably perfect for the setting. Pretty lace table runners adorned rustic, barn wood dining tables, and were topped with casually arranged sunflowers + wild posies.
Pick the things that are the most important to you and start there. For us, they were 1) the food (we both love food), 2) the music (in our minds an epic dance party is a wedding requirement), and 3) our photographer (because all you'll have at the end of the day is each other, and your pictures). Once you've settled on the things that are most important to you, plan those first. You'll be excited to do the research and book your favorite vendors. After that, it feels easier to tackle the little details, and voila, you've started planning your wedding. Also, don't underestimate the value of hiring an event planner or day of coordinator. Ours was a godsend, she had great ideas and was so knowledgeable about the entire planning process. Really, a huge help.

How is this wedding so good? Pat is amazing and I can’t get over these photos!
I love how they have a mix of red and blue (with the perfect shades, of course). Not to mention: being from Kansas originally, I love the sunflowers!
