Stylish Cliffside Wedding at Timber Cove: Laurie + Peter

Ocean Inspired Wedding

DIY brides, get ready to be majorly inspired by today’s gorgeous wedding, held at Timber Cove Inn in Jenner, California. The bride, Laurie, loves being creative and knew her + Peter’s wedding would be the perfect excuse to craft personal, unique elements to really make the day their own. Most of what wasn’t DIY’d by the two of them was created by a friend or family member, making the celebration a community affair that was a blast to see come to life.

Laurie says, We are both originally from the east coast, but we’ve been living in San Francisco for the past three years. It was really important to us to have one place that everyone (from both coasts) could stay all together for an entire weekend. Timber Cove was the perfect spot – remote, quirky, and full of so much of the Northern California natural beauty that we’ve fallen in love with.

Laurie wore one of our fave wedding ensembles: Carol Hannah’s Kensington skirt, which she purchased at Lovely Bride SF. And we can’t go a minute more without calling out the lush greenery bouquets + florals Madeline Moore and Kate Shannon created for the day!

Our Favorite Memory From The Wedding

Everyone says this, but man oh man it's too hard to pick just one.

Playing lawn games and listening to bluegrass as the sun set on Friday, getting to read (and hear) the vows we had written for each other in front of the people we love most, being announced as a married couple for the very first time in front of all our friends and family while they cheered and waved their dinner napkins in the air (probably the closest either of us will ever come to feeling famous), my dad's speech at dinner, and sitting on the dance floor at midnight eating cookies and laughing with our best friends.

We wanted to make sure the weekend felt like a celebration, and that it felt like us. (Also, Peter cared a lot that we were able to get good, southern-style BBQ). So the weekend had lawn games and blankets, fire pits, narwhal cake-toppers, a big family-style dinner (and good, southern-style BBQ), signature cocktails, and ended with a huge dance party. We got to do what mattered to us, and had a day that felt like a culmination of what we love.

Our Advice To Those Planning Now

Some of the best advice I got while planning is to remember that your wedding day is not (no matter how many times people tell you it is) the most important day of your life. It shouldn't be! Try not to get sucked up in the stress and forget that the importance of a marriage does not hinge on one day. Your wedding day is, however, the biggest, most extravagant party you'll probably ever plan. So, take advantage of that and make it yours! Don't blindly follow tradition, or get swept up in other people's opinions. It gets stressful, but remembering this helped me to let go of feeling like the day needed to be absolutely perfect and allowed us to plan a day that reflected who we are as a couple.

Also, splurge on a great photographer/videographer - it's hard to remember every detail, so it's such a gift to have beautiful images that captured the day to look back on!
