Spiritual Sedona Elopement: Delia + Jamie

Sedona elopement

Jamie and Delia traveled all the way from New Zealand to get married amongst the red rocks in Sedona, Arizona. Childhood acquaintances, these two hadn’t spoken in over two years when out of nowhere Jamie had a dream that he + Delia were married. As meant to be as it can possibly get, his dream became a reality as they exchanged their vows in a beautiful, Native American ceremony, with their two good friends – who were also traveling in the United States at the time – as their witnesses. Such a romantic story, right?

More from Delia, Neither of us are really wedding type of people. We wanted to marry each other without all the fuss of a large wedding, so an elopement was perfect for us! Our ceremony had some traditional Native American elements which really appealed to us because we both love and respect nature, and also some western traditions we wanted to keep. We worked really closely with our celebrant to create a ceremony that was intimate and personal, and she was an amazing, calming presence on the day.

Big thanks to Vienna Glenn Photography for these gorgeous images and congratulations to the happy couple on a beautiful, meaningful day!

To say we adore Delia’s gorgeous Mara Hoffman dress would be an understatement! It’s just so perfect for the setting…

Our Favorite Memory From The Wedding

Definitely the ceremony itself, reading our vows to each other and hearing the beautiful words of our celebrant. In so many weddings the ceremony loses importance amongst everything else that goes on and I'm so glad our ceremony was the most memorable part of our day.

Our entire organization for the ceremony seemed to be serendipitous. We had a couple of hours in Beverly Hills to choose my ring, we found it at an antique jewelry store, which apparently they had only put out the day before. We had searched online for the type of blanket we might want for the ceremony and liked the look of a beautiful blue & rusty red one. We turned up in the tiny town of Sedona and just happened to find the exact one in a small store there, the owner said he had got it in just that morning.

Our Advice To Those Planning Now

Not to over plan anything. As soon as you let go of your expectations and plans things all start to fall into place naturally. That's what I think an elopement is all about, letting go of convention and doing something really free spirited, inspired by your love for each other!
