Southern Garden Bow Tie Wedding: Laurie + Everett

bride and groom

Laurie + Everett knew that for their big day they wanted to be married at a farm, essentially in an open field with big trees and lots of light. One of my favorite settings too! :) Their vision was for people to see their love for each other and how devastatingly passionate they were for one another. Laurie + Everett spent hours creating a brand for their wedding with the theme of “let love grow.” So perfect for this Southern Garden wedding.

From Laurie, “With our last name being “bowes”, we played on that a bit and had hand made bow ties made for every male guest and hair bows made for every female guest. I personally hand made the groomsmen’s bow ties as a gift to them.” Love this personal detail! Thanks so much to Ryan Ray for the gorgeous photos and congrats to Laurie + Everett!

Our Favorite Memory From The Wedding

Our favorite part was the ceremony and sharing our vows to one another. There is nothing more beautiful than devoting yourself to your beloved in front of your most cherished friends and family. I will never forget how genuine our emotion was and how beautiful it felt to hear such beautiful words from my husband with the sound of our loved ones crying tears of joy for us in the background. I think we would both agree that we could re-live that ceremony at least 1000 times.

Our escort cards are actually mini watering cans with rusted tin shovels on them and each guests name written on the shovel. The flower in the can lets the guest know which table they are sitting at as each table had a watering can with the coordinating flower in it.

vintage place settings

My dad milled cypress trunks into boards to make us 10 custom wood tables for the reception. They were amazing! Each table setting is a 3 piece china setting with a custom light tan color linen napkin stamped with a grey “B.” The head table had a small nest in the middle of each plate with 2 eggs in it. Written on each egg is either Mr or Mrs and then the last name of the person on the other egg.

Our food: mini beef and pork sliders, southern slaw, baked mac and cheese in muffin tins, and angel eggs (my version of a deviled egg) :) Other side items include mini crabcakes, alabama caviar (recipe from my best friends mom), and fresh fruit served in teacups. All are of course detailed with custom flags on toothpicks, etc. Drinks were a sweet southern watermelon crawl (bride and groom drink), summer sangria, lemonade, sweet tea (all of those in huge mason jar serving pitchers), and glass bottle cokes in brown wood buckets. We also had custom snow cone flavors to go with our snowcones :)
