Runaway Pop Up Wedding Elopements

lets run away

Remember us telling you all about the incredible Runaway Pop Up Wedding Event? This was a once in a life time celebration, conceptualized by a group of stellar wedding artists, for couples who wanted to elope, but still have a stylish + memorable wedding day. I really love idea – and how the event turned out – so I’m super excited to share this fun recap with you lovelies today!

From the team, The concept we dreamt up was based on an elopement alternative for couple’s who had thought about running away to vegas or having a ceremony at city hall that lacked style. By combining the talents of all these amazing vendors for one day only, we were able to bring a dream wedding to 5 couples on a Sunday afternoon! Each couple booked a time slot at our ‘popup’ ceremony venue, styled by Sitting in a Tree, and were greeted with either a bouquet or a floral crown from Bloem Hill, and food + celebratory drinks in a styled private waiting lounge. After some food + cocktails, our brides walked down the aisle to guitarist, Bart Davenport, strumming a song of their choice. Each couple had the option to use their own vows + modify the ceremony performed by Lara, our amazing officiant, and bring a handful of guests as witnesses.

Big thanks to Rad + In Love for the beautiful images + congrats to all of the couples who exchanged their vows at the Runaway Pop Up Event!

Five of the sweetest couples traveled in from near + far to elope at the event. Elianna + Jonathan, who had briefly discussed eloping in the past, heard about Runaway + decided to go for it! They flew down from Canada for a beautiful, fun + stress-free day…

From Elianna + Jonathan: The moment they opened the curtain to the ceremony space my mind was racing a million miles a minute. You think of all the concrete things you’re going to do that day like hair and nails + dress and makeup, but you don’t really give any thought to how you’re going to feel and react when it’s all actually happening… at least I hadn’t. And with no rehearsal of how it would all go down – yeah, my heart was racing!

But when Bart started playing his acoustic rendition of “This Will Be Our Year”, there was no holding back the tears. I can right now hear that song in my mind, and in turn, see myself walking down the aisle, see my husband standing there, and call to mind all the emotions of the day. It all went by so fast after that, but we are also very lucky to have lived a whole week’s worth of equally memorable moments during our ‘California Wedding Trip’ with our family!

Elianna + Jonathan traveled from Canada, another couple brought their kids, some snuck away and told no one, while others brought all sorts of friends and family to witness a vow renewal. They wore polka dots, sequins, orange, lace… you name it. They cried, laughed, kissed, danced…each couple truly putting their own unique spin on the day and (hopefully) feeling like they had the wedding of their dreams on a shoestring budget! Such a magical day for all these couples…
