Romantic Greek Isles Destination Wedding: Iris + Steve

Greek Isle Wedding

Iris + Steve reside in Charlotte, North Carolina, but decided to get married in stunning Santorini, Greece as Iris has long had dreams of having her Greek grandfather walk her down the aisle. (Too sweet!) Their closest friends + family acted as the officiants for their truly stunning day, and the unparalleled colors of the sea and the palpable romance of beautiful Santorini made for the perfect backdrop for celebrating their sweet love story!

Iris tells us, Our inspiration for our wedding was natural romance. The scenery was beautiful in itself so I wanted to add little touches that complemented the natural ambiance – the sunset, architecture, water. For our tablescape, I chose a Silk and Willow natural table runner with a whimsical floral centerpiece that lay in a wooden box. We had lots votive candles and French gray candlesticks. There were gold rimmed plate chargers, each holding a dip-dyed and gold foiled menu and place card which was then polished off with a delicate pink rose and silk ribbon for each guest. Surrounding the table were white lanterns graced by olive branches along with different heights of candles all which lit up the dance floor and night sky.

Big thanks to All Bliss Photography for the beautiful photos of I + S’ day!

Our Favorite Memory From The Wedding

Our ceremony focused Steve and I starting our new life together with the support of our family and closest friends. I had the honor of my 94 year old grandfather walking me down the aisle. I will always be a daddy’s girl but my grandfather has such a big role in who I am today. My dad was more than thrilled to have his father walk his daughter down the aisle. It was such a beautiful and emotional experience that I will cherish forever.

We had each guest read a piece of our ceremony. I originally planned for a Santorini officiant to marry us. However, they would not modify their existing ceremony script. This was a little stressful for us. Personally, the ceremony was the most important part of the day. Words that were said would stay with us forever. With this being a symbolic ceremony, Steve and I decided there was no better way to get married than to have our family and closest friends marry us. I did extensive research pulling a little bit of this and that from different scripts and thoughtfully pieced together the ceremony. From there, I assigned each part accordingly. We had done a breakfast rehearsal the morning of. Each person stood up and read only their last line. It wasn’t until the ceremony that everyone fully read their part. Standing there during our ceremony, it all beautifully came together. Emotion quickly came over everyone as each word was read. We cried, we acknowledged, we remembered, we addressed, we prayed, we vowed, we laughed and we loved. It was an experience like no other. I feel like everyone appreciated the moment as much as Steve and I did.

Santorini was one of the most beautiful, romantic places I have ever seen. It perfectly fit the feel of the day, it was a slice of heaven on earth and our wedding could not have been more perfect.
