Real Wedding: Stacy + Paul’s Anthropolgie Inspired Wedding

Happy almost holiday weekend!! I hope you all spend some time with family + friends and eat lots of yummy food! I’m on my way to spend the holidays with my husband’s family in Milwaukee, WI. Hopefully I won’t freeze! :) One more treat though first – a lovely wedding! Stacy + Paul were married at the Red Horse Barn in Huntington Beach, Ca. Stacy was inspired by vintage finds + found a lot of her inspiration from visiting her favorite store, Anthropologie. From Stacy, “We wanted our wedding to be unique, to be crafted from our own ideas. Paul + I had fun going to flea markets together and finding things we could incorporate into the wedding.

Most memorable moment of your wedding day? The most memorable (and terrifying) moment of the wedding day was walking down the aisle. After all the anticipation of the planning, the journey to find Paul and being surrounded by all those I loved was overwhelming and amazing. Paul and I thought that the ceremony was the part that we wanted to get over with so we could party with family and friends, but as we began planning the ceremony it became the most important part of the day. We decided to forgo the traditional ceremony with things like the unity candle, and instead did a tribute to our grandmothers who have passed. Our mom’s read words of advice that our grandmothers had written when they were alive and it was a very special and touching moment.

Any advice for those planning now? Stay organized, prioritize what is most important to you and let go of everything else. We couldn’t spend a lot of money, so instead I spent a lot of time crafting everything. Although it was months and months of DIY projects, I enjoyed every moment.

A lot of the decor for the wedding we purchased with the intent of using in our home after the wedding was over. So much money goes into planning and paying for a wedding and it felt like a shame to just get rid of everything once the night was over. The frames we used in the gazebo are now hung in our bedroom, the wooden quotes of our grandmothers are now decorations in the living room. It is really neat to still be surrounded from memories of the wedding in our home.

Save money where you can. Weddings grow out of control real quick so pick and choose where to spend your money and where to save. We opted for a beautiful cake from Sweet & Saucy in Long Beach. To save on the cost of a cake to serve everyone, we opted for a smaller cake to serve 50 guests and then supplemented with different individual small bakery bites. All the flower decorations were done by me and my maid of honor in the garage a few days before the wedding. We purchased the flowers wholesale ad arranged them in mason jars. It really fit well with the whole vintage theme of our wedding and really helped to save on costs.

Stalk blogs and get as much inspiration as you can but make your wedding your own. It is your chance to show your family and friends exactly who you are as a couple. Good luck and enjoy the journey! It’s a fast trip but an amazing one.

this is a really pretty wedding! i have a couple of questions…who did the invitations? and where did you get all the little handmade flowers and trinkets for the name cards?

  11. Stacy on:

Thanks for all the sweet comments everyone. We had a great time at our wedding! And, some amazing and talented people who helped bring the vision to life a.k.a our vendors from heaven!
@Jen K, the wooden stand is from Pottery Barn and I think they have it in their outdoor section as they sell it as a plant stand.
@Shirley, I did all the wedding invites and made all the fabric flowers. If you are interested check out my blog for more details :)

  15. Maureen on:

This was indeed an amazing and beautiful wedding. The photos you see here are just the tip of the iceberg. Stacy and Paul saw to it there were sentimental touches everywhere… like gorgeous wrist corsages for the mothers that were handmade (by Stacy) from beautiful sheer fabric, crystal beads and pearls from jewelry that Stacy’s grandmother left to her.

Stacy did an absolutely astonishing job of planning, designing, and creating what turned out to be a perfect wedding. From the creative signs and backdrops, to flower arrangements and boutonnières… down to the beautiful unique décor on the tables (from entrance to dining area), Stacy either designed and made the pieces, or was deeply involved in selecting them (most she made). No detail was missed.

When it was time for them to simply enjoy being the Bride and Groom, Stacy and Paul made sure they could enjoy their wedding by engaging the talented professionals noted here to execute their very detailed plans. Stacy and Paul knew exactly what they wanted. Stacy’s amazing vision and creativity, along with a wonderful support made it happen!

Simply put, because of a lot of creativity, talent, hard work and dedication, Paul and Stacy’s wedding was a flawless, delightful, and enchanted evening.

  16. SO MUCH amazing detail that went into this wedding. They put so much thought into every little detail! So beautiful!

  17. Vern on:

Long time reader, first time poster…

I love every detail of this wedding that is shown… You have defintaly not erred even close to daggy DIY, every little touch is amazing… Alot of the weddings one attends can be all too much different venue same wedding, they are all lovely of course but it can seem like they all just blend into one memory after time. You have created a wedding that really shows personality and I’m sure will stand out amongst your guests wedding memories…

I have also as you say ‘stalked blogs’ in search of my fulfillment of my wedding porn fix… It is sad (but happy) times thinking that my own wedding is nearly here and I am not going to have an excuse to be busted looking at wedding blogs on my work internet…

Anyway thanks for sharing your beautiful wedding, I hope mine is as craftily sentimental as yours…

  18. Beautiful placecards! Wow…a lot of love and work went into those details.

  19. I don’t always say this, but I can really relate to the style of the couple, and appreciate it completely! Every little detail was perfect for the event. Love it!

  33. Mo on:

I absolutely love this wedding, down to every detail. It seemed so warm and personal, love it. Kudos on the bouquet and your dress. Also, it seems like you let the bridesmaids wear outfits of their own picking. I love that.

One big question…where did you (he) get your ring? I absolutely love the cut, shape, and design, pretty perfect. My bf has been asking me to show him the exact type of ring I want and I haven’t been able to find the “perfect” one, I always want to change something about it, but yours is perfect.

  44. Yikes! This wedding is AMAZING! Scrabble?! Yes please! The cake is beautiful and i really love the typewriter for guests notes to the couple… not only does the font look great the precious words from those close freinds and family will actually be legible! Great idea :) Oh! And the custom wooden signs are so sweet- LOVE!
