I have such a fun colorful wedding to share with you guys today! I love how Maya + Dave infused their personalities and a bit of their heritage into their day. I’ll let Maya talk about her day. :)
We were inspired by color! Dave + I love love LOVE color. We wanted our wedding to be beautiful and represent little pieces of us as individuals and as a couple. I wouldn’t really say there was a “theme” but we jokingly call it “whimsical, eclectic, flea market chic, fiesta.” The beautiful glass pieces that we used for our centerpieces were all thrift store finds and they really inspired the design. Dave and I are both Mexican-American and we wanted to incorporate that aspect of our lives into our wedding without making it seem like a Cinco de Mayo party. Our signature drink- the Spicy Michelada was a hit and our guests loved the Mexican Loteria escort cards. Overall, our wedding was a huge mash-up of everything Maya + Dave and we loved every second of it!
Most memorable moment of your wedding day? Dave and I saw each other before the ceremony for our first look photo shoot. We were actually a bit spoiled and had a full two hours to shoot before the wedding. Spending that quiet time with him, all dressed up, knowing that in a few hours we’d be married was ridiculously special.
From Erin (of dandelion and grey): Two vintage nightstands topped with antique books and lamps flanked the ceremony area, which also boasted a multi-colored hanging ribbon backdrop. Maya wanted something sweet and simple to line the aisle, so we hung mismatched jars from twine, which Honey & Poppies filled with bright, beautiful blooms.
From Christina (of simply modern weddings): Maya + Dave also wanted to add a hint of Mexican elements to the day, so we did loteria cards for the guest’s escort cards & corresponding table numbers, and strung brightly colored papel picado behind the dessert dresser (aka “yellow lovely”) to make it a focal piece of the reception. They wanted their day to reflect a feel of comfort & home…as if the wedding was a cool backyard party, so Erin brought in some beautiful vintage furniture pieces to incorporate in the reception. Maya’s mom sewed fun colored toss pillows that we placed around the tree trunk’s lounge area. A photo from maya’s grandparents wedding day was incorporated in to the welcome table, and her grandmother’s china was used on their sweetheart and dessert tables. These added such beautiful personal touches to the day!
For their reception tables, we paired beautiful raw natural colored linens from la tavola with some flirty peach napkins that maya found and wrapped with twine. with maya’s collection of antique glassware vessels, and megan’s delightful mix of bright flowers…it was such a fantastical combination!
Love the dessert table!
Maya, any advice for those planning now? Remember to enjoy the planning process and don’t get too overwhelmed with all of the business! Spend the money and hire a coordinator. I thought I could do it all myself and realized as the big day grew closer I needed major help. It was the best investment we made. We were so relaxed on our wedding day knowing that we were in such good hands.
I’d just like to say a HUGE thank you to all of our vendors. They were all so fabulous throughout the planning process and on the day of our wedding- Dave and I were so lucky to work with such beautiful people!
Thanks so much to everyone involved for letting me share this beautiful wedding – and congrats to Maya + Dave!

Congratulations on a beautiful wedding! You picked great venues, both for the weeding itself and the pictures beforehand. While not technically a vendor, we’d be glad to have The Gamble House listed in the column of credits as the place where the lovely pre-wedding photos were taken. Thank you, and congratulations again!
