Real Wedding: Kristin + Matt’s Palm Springs Wedding

Matt + Kristin met through their dogs, so they only saw it fit to brand the wedding as so. From Kristin, Our theme started as a combination of our love of all things vintage, quirky, eclectic, modern, and earthy. Planning things on our own, with so much amazing inspiration, it was initially hard to edit our vision. When we sat down to make our wedding invitations with our friend Jon, he started pulling images of our dogs to add to the invitations and came up with what we ended up calling our wedding logo. This combined with geometric, retro-inspired patterns created by our friend Dresden led us to what we can best summarize as “Modern puppy love.”

Big thanks to Rog + Lyndzee of EP Love for sharing their work with us today!

Most memorable moment of your wedding day? Although Matt was at first reluctant to include our dogs in the ceremony for fear of them ruining it with bad behavior, I was insistent on having them there. We each had a dog, and they really are like our children. Each of our moms walked our dogs down the aisle, and they had front row seats for the ceremony. Our ceremony was abruptly interrupted by our Cockapoo “Sawyer” loudly throwing up. This was exactly what Matt had feared would happen. I turned and told everyone “welcome to our life” and was relieved when everyone, including Matt, started laughing. That was one moment, among many incredible memories, that we will fondly remember for the rest of our lives.

Any advice for those planning now? Planning a wedding on your own and on a budget is tough so I would decide what is most important to you (photos for us!) and splurge there, then let the rest fall into place. And if you figure out a way to afford it, hire a wedding planner!! I think that would have taken a lot off our plates. Besides that, what everyone tells you is true: to enjoy all the little moments – both with your fiance as well as your friends and family. It’s one of the times in life that really brings everyone together, and it just goes by so quickly!

This day is about YOU and your spouse. Looking at our photos we feel like we made it really personal, and love that we can now look into our garden and have those special reminders that our love is not the only thing growing each day. Whatever your budget, you are spending a lot of money, so do whatever will bring you the most happiness in the future.
