I’ve been a fan of photographer Carl Zoch for sometime now. When I saw this beautiful farm wedding on his site the other day, I knew it would be perfect to share with you guys. The wedding took place at the bride’s grandparents farm in Fairview, Oklahoma – what a great location! I love the ceremony setup and the reception in the barn. Brit’s dress is beautiful and love the color palette – especially her bouquet – gorgeous! Thanks so much Carl for letting me share this super sweet wedding today. Congrats to Brit + Daniel – your wedding looks like a perfect day!
**update – check the end of the post for some additional details from Brit. Thanks so much Brit!
How adorable are her shoes?! Love them. Daniel’s suit is from Banana Republic.
I think this is my favorite portrait (below) – although it’s hard to choose, Carl has an amazing eye for composition! Love Brit’s Melissa Sweet gown!!
Check out the stylish wedding party!
Did you have a theme/inspiration for the day?
We wanted the wedding to be appropriate to the setting and true to our love of detail and my love of handmade things. We wanted our day to be charming, handcrafted, and perfectly lovely.
Your father mentioned you created a bunch of the elements, what did you do?
Everything! The only things that weren’t handmade were Daniel’s suit, my dress and veil (which I technically cut up and put back together just the way I wanted it). I made lots of fabric flowers, the accessories (the bridesmaids belts, earrings, my shoe clips, garter, the flower arrangements, the table linens, calligraphy, the programs, invitations, signage….).
Any advice for those wanting to create a lot of their wedding elements?
Do it! I was able to put my own touches on everything from bridesmaid gifts, watercolored thank you cards, pie pennants, handwrapped ice cream slices, etc. in five months! Do things in order of the most important to you. That way if you run out of time, the least important things slide off most easily from the to-do list. And know when to stop (or when to just buy it on etsy!) Cater to the talents of loved ones- I was able to enlist my wonderful grandma to help sew vintage aprons for gifts and table linens, my aunt and psuedo-aunt to help me arrange flowers, my quilting circle ladies to bake pies, my neighbor to cook potatoes, etc. Using what those closest to you are best at can make your day that much more meaningful….
Your fav memory of the day?
Our two mile country drive sitting in the back of my dad’s Dodge wheat truck to our real get away car. The air was cool and we were lit by a stand of lights draped across our back. It was so symbolic of our moving forward together while looking back at where we’ve come from. We felt so loved.
