Real Wedding: Ashley + Aaron’s Bohemian Palm Spring’s Wedding

I’m so excited to share today’s wedding sent over from Heidi with Our Labor of Love. I love Palm Springs and these photos really showcase why it is such a gorgeous place for a wedding. Ashley + Aaron got ready at my most favorite hotel – the Ace Hotel – and then were married at a friends home. A vintage dress, Christian Louboutin shoes, and a monkey – yep, this wedding is perfect!

The dress is from the 1930’s and was purchased here in LA at the Santa Monica Civic Center Vintage Expo. It was the first dress I tried on and I paid $600 for it!! Elegant Mode on Fairfax handled the repairs (it was super delicate) and alterations and she did a FABULOUS job!!!! Unfortunately there is no tag and I do not have the name of the vendor I purchased it from. My ring was purchased from my dear friend Metier in SF who sells gorgeous Estate jewelry and is English from the 1800’s. Also, I read your blog religiously before the wedding and found my AMAZING photographer Heidi via the site. Yay! :)

I love that they took portraits in the lobby with the super cool rope installation!

Our Favorite Memory From The Wedding

My favorite part of the wedding day was how we planned to shoot portraits before the wedding ceremony. We were really able to take advantage of the Ace Hotel as a location. We stopped at an abandoned parking lot on the way to the ceremony to shoot more photos in a natural landscape. I love it when I have architecture to work with and landscape to work with. It gives a really great balance to the images as a whole. I agree! These portraits you captured are stunning! Amazing light in the desert.

The monkey was a surprise for the groom and a wedding gift from the bride for him as well. He is a huge animal lover and Ashley thought it would be a cute to surprise him with this funny little animal. I know one person who is going to be super jealous when they see this part! My husband joked that he wanted a monkey at our wedding – I didn’t think it was possible, but they just proved me wrong! I love your idea Ashley – and that little guy is so cute!

Jen, their wedding planner was kind enough to include some thoughts on the day: This was a really hip and eclectic couple who knew exactly what they wanted. From every ornate crystal to every Lucite piece, we hand picked everything. The style was bohemian/modern. We actually went through a company, Furniture Exchange, that stages homes for sale in Palm Springs to find some really interesting and eye catching pieces. The clear globe lights were hung in the trees and really made a beautiful setting when it became dark. A dream catcher was hung off of the branches where they were wed. This wedding was probably the most personal that I have ever done. It really said a lot about the couple.

To keep the party on it’s toes they also had a psychic reader in a room lit by candle light. It was very unique and fun for all!
