Happy Monday! I have such a gorgeous wedding to start the week off! The bride, Angie, is a clothing designer and the groom, Tyson, is an artist. They live in Montreal and had a gorgeous backyard wedding last month. Angie wore an incredible vintage dress she purchased for $5!! What a find! And wait until you see the bridesmaids dresses she made :) There were so many incredible small details that went into their day. All photography by Kamp Photography.
You will see all of the wedding party with what looks to be war medals. These were all custom made out of wood, and featured the name of each individual person.
How fun! The wedding party played kazoos to the Beatles Ob-li-di, Ob-li-da as they walked out!
The ceremony was held in the backyard of Angie’s parents and was officiated by Tyson’s brother.
Love the color palette and the super fun chairs!!!
The place mats on the tables for dinner were all custom made from vintage fabric, some of which was also used in the dresses.
Oh, and they did their engagement photos a few days before the wedding and saw a double rainbow! What does it mean ??? :)
Thanks so much to Kamp Photography for letting me share your gorgeous work today! Kamp Photography are based in Winnipeg, Canada and available for travel worldwide. Check out more from Angie + Tyson’s wedding on their blog.
Wow! Love the bride’s dress and the colorful chairs. Such a pretty backyard wedding <3
What a fashion forward bride! Love the belt – reminds me of the new J.Crew bridal line. Such a cute picture with the rainbow, too!
Always love a backyard wedding and this is amazing with the great details!
Gorgeous, the colorful chairs are inspired!
I just can’t get over how awesome her bridal accessories are…the military medal, that headpiece! and the belt. Girlfriend has some serious style! And how perfect that there was a rainbow at the end of it all :)
The only problem with this blog is that every day it makes me want to get married again! ;) This wedding is perfect…I just love all the small touches that make is so personal and awesome!
love the colored chairs. and i love that thin belt paired with her gown.
Totally loving the bridesmaid dresses. SO cute.
this is an ALL TIME FAVORITE of mine. Canadian love from a Canadian! mwah!
okay, i love this post because the wedding totally reminds me of the song “HOME” by edward sharpe & the magnetic zeroes! download it!!!! 2nd reason, the dress was 5 bucks!!!!!!!!!!! so jealous! i love cheap vintage finds. third, you linked to the rainbow video!!!!!! hahahahah
I totally love the chairs, the illustrations but my all time fave is the leather belt on the wedding gown! LOVE IT!
I wish I was at this celebration! Love the picnic style ceremony, and handmade goodness. Très belle!!!
Whoa, double rainbow, ohmygod, so intense … :) (is this the first reference to an internet meme you’ve made?) I love her dress, such a good find. The chairs are really fun!
I think this is quite possibly the coolest wedding I’ve seen in some time. I worked for Ralph Lauren for many years and this reminds me so much of that lifestyle! Classic, Mod and chic! So tasteful, so innocent.. Love it all!
haha “what does it mean? its so bright and so vivid!”
i LOVE the belted dress and the chairs at the reception. such refreshing colors.
How beautiful and creative! Some great ideas, thanks for sharing!!!
this is so lovely! everthing is so well thought out….i also can’t get over her dress, what a bargin!
I am a LONG time reader. This is my first comment… because of the double rainbow. I never know what to comment but I just had to comment on this to say… so intense!
Truly, sincerely touching….
This colour palette is amazing! I love the yellows and all of the little details …especially the chairs:)
Oh my god, OH MY GOD! I know that dress! I can’t believe I randomly come over here after missing for awhile and THIS is the wedding I happen to see! I know that dress! I saw and bookmarked an article where that dress that Angie found, like a YEAR ago, or LONGER! The $5 wedding dress, I’ll never forget it!!! That’s so crazy I just so happened to run into it now! So glad to see Angie and Tyson happily married and what a wonderful wedding it was Ha!
And OMG, the idea of a regular old belt on the wedding dress is frickin’ awesome!
Now that really is how to do a wedding! It looks so stylish and such a friendly occasion, I’d much rather have something like that than just hire a hotel somewhere. So much more intimate.
I’ve seen a couple of double rainbows but only ever one full circular rainbow when at the top of a mountain.
So happy for the double rainbow and for the married couple.
I visit their store in Montreal often – when I heard that they were going to use their wedding to promote the designer’s business, I thought, ‘how tacky’, but this is so adorable and affordable. Commercial doesn’t have to compromise cuteness!
The whole thing just screams creativity, these guys had to have arty jobs lol!
Hi! This is Angie, bride of the above wedding! I’m so blown away and flattered by the comments, I just had to pop in and say thank you! Living in another province, away from our families, it was so nice to get everyone in one place and have this amazing day together. We didn’t have a large budget, but knew we wanted to invite as many people as possible, which is how we started along the crafty/thrifty path with our wedding…it was the only way we would be able to afford inviting so many people!
fille de montreal – I’m not sure where you heard that we were “using” the wedding to promote my business… my designs don’t really fall in with the colourful/retro look I went for with the wedding, there’s nothing really “Norwegian Wood” about any part of the wedding actually….to tell you the truth it’s nice to get away from it once in awhile and try a different aesthetic! However we DID use many amazing vendors from Etsy and many of our friends created things for the wedding. If anything we would hope that our wedding would help spread the word about THEIR amazing work. Planning our wedding was really a pure labour of love for me…my chance to plan a magical day with my family and friends, who I never get to see all in one place. Hope that clears things up!
this is great. i love how brides these days are doing their own thing with their own style and details. and i love that Etsy is great for everything! what made it even better is the double rainbow at the end! too funny! have you heard the song made from the double rainbow? it’s genious.
Oh how adorable! I love it all. They did such a beautiful job!
I AM IN LOVE WITH THE WEDDING DRESS BELT<3
Wow, everything about this wedding rocks! I love the bride’s gown + brown leather belt, the adorable “medals” and of course the kazoos! Too fun!
Where did you find all those wonderful war medal pendants? Love the look and what a great gift for the bridal party!
Lauren – We made them actually! I came up with the idea and explained it to my bridesmaid Judy who is a graphic designer, and then she came up with the graphics for them, using some elements from the “family crest” painting Tyson did (see framed painting above). Her boyfriend Mike (who was also a groomsman) has a laser cutting machine for his handmade clock/furniture business, so he cut them for us, and I assembled them. They’re one of my favorite elements of the wedding!
i like this wedding photos
I absolutely love this idea! So inspiring! I want to have my wedding in my parents backyard now!
Who ARE these people? I’ve never seen so many cool individuals in one place! Where are the weird cousins? And grandmas!?
JK this is perfect, I love it!!!
Wow, I love the wedding! There are so many personalities and character, definitely not your traditional wedding. I love the bridal party’s attire!
love the pictures!!
LOVE this wedding! So gorgeous and exactly what a wedding should be about- love and a couple who wants to celebrate it with their family and friends!
In the last two pictures, how did they arrange the rainbow to be there? That’s lucky.
Vintage, fun, whimsical, personal, and romantic!
Where did the bridesmaids dresses come from!? They are perfect for my wedding! I love these pictures!
The two last pictures —> so beautiful
I want something like that on my own engagement photos!!!!! looks so natural and exquisite! love it!
She got that dress for $5?! That should not be possible! I love all the fun touches with this wedding!
Love love love the bridesmaids dresses, where on earth did you get them?
Beautiful pictures
WOW! That dress for $5 is amazing! I really love the unique idea of wearing “medals”, a very creative touch. My favorite photo was the entire bridal party on the old car, very vintage and edgy.
Angie!
What a beautiful wedding!
Everything is gorgeous!
And where on earth did you get those bridesmaids dresses?
Absolutely adorable.
The colored chairs were amazing!! Did you rent them or buy them?
Hi, I was just wondering where these chairs are from, and if it’s possible to online rent them from anywhere?
THANKS
A $5 wedding dress!?!?! That must be a new record for steal of the century. And to accessorize with the leather belt – Such a bold choice! It looks fantastic.
That is the biggest backyard ever!
