Playful Country Island Wedding: Kate + Aaron

country seattle wedding

Kate + Aaron’s beautiful country island wedding took place at a sprawling, 100-year-old farm, set off the beaten path on Whidbey Island, just north of Seattle. And while their wedding emanated style from every facet, at the end of the day this laid-back couple is all about having a good time, so they made sure to incorporate tons of sweet, light-hearted details into their day! Here’s more from Kate about how they pulled off such a fun + playful wedding:

We went in thinking we wanted to throw a party. At the end of the day it was a wedding – but we let the idea of a party lead the way. We put a pig on a spit, played lawn games, ran from godzilla, and shot bubbles at each other. Our friends’ life-sized Jenga match drew a crowd and a roar. Aaron’s family and our friends smoked the dance floor; and those who didn’t want to dance made s’mores at the fire pit. In the end it was about setting up good things for our favorite people to have fun with – and they made it a great day.

Big thanks to Jeff Marsh for the super gorgeous images + congrats to the newlyweds!

How cool are Kate’s geometric-inspired jewelry pieces from local Seattle designer, Sarah Loertscher?! I love how they add a hint of modern to her otherwise classic + romantic look…

Our Advice To Those Planning Now

Try to have fun. Aaron said early on, I just want this to be fun. And he had it right. Planning a wedding is a lot of hard work – don't let it take you down. Make the small decisions fast, and focus on the important ones. Lean into the strengths of your team – your venue, caterer, planner, and wedding party – let them take charge of what they'll do well, and agree on decisions that will bring out the best in them. Like everything, it's more fun when you do it together, and when you're laughing together.
