Palm Springs never fails to impress with its wide variety of event spaces + overall amazing vibe. Not surprisingly, we were super excited when Mark Brooke Photography sent over this fun, stylish wedding for us to check out, held at one of Palm Spring’s newest venues – Sparrows Lodge!
Carly was a total hands-on bride, who DIYd all the pretty elements you’re about to see and custom-made herself THE raddest bridal jewelry, which we’re stoked to say is available for customization + purchase from brides-to-be + bridesmaids everywhere! Pop by her site to learn even more! Carly teamed up with Artisan Event Floral Decor to execute her vision + and worked hard to add her artistic flare into every aspect of the wedding. All her time + energy really paid off! Her + Josh’s wedding just couldn’t have been better!
Carly + Josh both grew up spending summers at overnight camp, and one thing that was important to them was incorporating this common theme, which connected them immediately. They chose Sparrows Lodge because it felt like a glamorous overnight camp. The kind of serene and outdoors environment that sets everyone at ease and would make guests want to get to know each other. Since they couldn’t choose between having a barn location or a shindig at a fancy hotel, they were thrilled when this one place met all of their needs.
We’re majorly digging Carly’s wedding day look! Between her Fallon Dress from Free People, to her Mantra Triangle Necklace (her own design), it was a perfect fit for the PS setting!
Carly tells us, This necklace can be custom hand-stamped! It’s often chosen by brides as bridesmaid gifts. I considered having it say “Mrs. Dodes” but went with “Free Spirit” instead. Get one for yourself or for your ‘maids here!
Sparrows looks like such a cool spot, right?!
Processional: Marry Me – Train
Recessional: Signed, Sealed, Delivered – Stevie Wonder
First Dance: I Choose You – Sara Bareilles
For the reception, Carly designed many of the elements, like the hand-stamped palm tree napkins + the kraft name cards, and sourced the vases, pillow shams, mason jars + turkish table runner! She worked closely with each vendor to specifically incorporate her own design ideas to make the day the ultimate reflection of her style sense. Since Josh could care less about the little details or color palette, he happily let his bride take the design reigns! :)

Set aside a budget for therapy! Without sugar coating it, this was one of the more stressful things either of us have done, but that made it one of the most amazing. We were so proud of how everything turned out, and from the moment we got on the plane to leave for California, we had a blast! It was a total team effort, and we both were responsible for many aspects of the planning - when it turned out as perfect as we could have ever imagined, we were very proud of our ability to work together, and felt even more validated in our love for one another. So just remember in the heat of the moment - you will shed the stress the minute you begin celebrating, and will only remember the beautiful moments you share.
