Romantic Vineyard Wedding: Mary + Chris

rustic wedding

Mary + Chris’ gorgeous vineyard wedding, styled by the lovely ladies at Enjoy Events Co., was the perfect blend of two of our favorite wedding styles: rustic + romantic. Filled with a gorgeous, soft color palette of sage, blush, and gray and the prettiest floral design by Shotgun Floral Studio, the beautiful details of this wedding couldn’t have been a better match for the idyllic Northern California landscape. Their ceremony was held within what remains of majestic stone ruins dating back to the 1800’s and dinner took place under bistro lights on farm tables covered in hand-dyed watercolor table runners. And while the beauty of Mary + Chris’ day is obvious, it was also an amazing party, too! Guests had a blast playing games like corn hole, croquet, and badminton. Later in the evening everyone roasted s’mores around the fire pit and the fun band, Pop Fiction, kept the dance party going strong into the night.

Big thanks to Edyta Szyszlo Photography for the stunning photography and congratulations to Mary + Chris!

Intimate Iceland Wedding: Kathleen + Steven

iceland wedding

I hope you all enjoyed Kathleen + Steven’s stunning engagement photos we shared this morning, which truly captured the essence of Iceland’s rugged countryside + coastline. We’re back to share their gorgeous + intimate wedding, hosted at the very charming Hótel Búðir. Kat + Steve embraced the magnificent beauty of the natural surroundings, but that didn’t mean their day was void of thoughtful, personal details. In fact, these two put so much love into hand-crafting some special + unique elements that I’m sure their guests are going to cherish for years to come. Here’s more from the couple about some of those projects:

For us, the wedding preparation was almost as important as the wedding day. We poured hours into making every little detail special for our guests. Some had traveled as far as Brazil to attend, and this was our way of saying thank you for sharing in our special day. I spent the better part of a year making hand knitted fingerless gloves for all the welcome bags – which were silk screened and said “Ta (thanks in England) Takk (thanks in Icelandic) and Thanks” and Steve hand-carved wooden signs that we used to point towards different parts of the day: ceremony, photobooth, reception, etc. We really put ourselves into each little part of the project to make the whole experience for our guests special.

Huge thanks to the very talented artists at Iris and Light for sharing these gorgeous images with us today + congratulations to Kathleen + Steven!

We kept our rings in a beautiful handmade wooden box. Our ring bearer, Kat's nephew, opened the box sideways and the rings fell into the sand. Steve unsuccessfully picked up a couple of handfuls of sand but when our officiant bent down, he came up with the rings immediately. It gave everyone a chance to laugh, and lightened the mood for the rest of the ceremony.

Also, while not technically on our wedding day, (but still very close to our hearts and the wedding "trip") our two guests from Brazil got engaged the day after our big day. We in fact just returned from their fantastic wedding in Sao Paulo, Brazil!

The night ended with a big bonfire on the beach, and everyone talked until the sun came up. Sounds like the most perfect way to end a beautiful day…

Be sure not to miss their incredible wedding video, also captured by Iris and Light!

Start early, think big and enjoy every minute of it. Decide what you want to get out of the whole experience first, and then do whatever it takes to make your dreams happen. For us, that meant insane attention to detail on the invites and stationery which we felt added a lot to the beautiful location for our guests.

Idyllic Icelandic Engagement Photos

iceland engagement

We are so excited about the amazing feature we have lined up for you lovelies today. First, we’ll be sharing Kathleen + Steve’s (you might remember them from their fun time lapse save the date we shared) idyllic Icelandic engagement photos and then later today, their gorgeous + intimate Icelandic wedding — both captured beautifully by Iris and Light! Luckily for Kathleen + Steve, they hired photographers who are just as adventurous and in love with the country of Iceland as they are! So for their engagement session, everyone piled into a car and the gang made some crazy long drives to some very remote + spectacular locations. The results are nothing short of breathtaking…
