Our Favorite Trends from Barcelona Bridal Week 2017

If you’ve been following along, you know by now that last week, one of the biggest events in the world of bridal fashion took place: Barcelona Bridal Fashion Week! And if you’re just tuning in now, pop on over here to get the inside scoop. While we were in Barcelona (see more here!), we saw quite a few stunning gowns, and we mean STUNNING. From subtle shades of blue, dreamy capes, dresses with so much movement and body, to darling details such as bows + feathers — there was no shortage of creative innovation + beauty.

Twenty-five designers showcased their latest collections, and we paid close attention to all the details, designs, and most importantly, the trends! Most of these dresses will be available later this year, in time for bride’s getting married later in 2017 or in 2018… So we expect to see these trends carry through to the next year + maybe even longer!

Ready to see what the designers are dishing out + what trends we absolutely adore? Let’s take a look!!

  1. Capes

It was 2015 when bridal capes really appeared on our radar. We swooned over them in 2016, and this year — they stole the show!! Adding a dramatic touch, with an ever-enchanting vibe, capes create an ethereal feeling and the movement when you walk is almost other-worldly! We found that the crowd went absolutely WILD when a model donning a cape graced the runway, especially when she turned or rose her arms and let the cape swoop and fall. So if you’re really wanting to feel like a princess + exude fairytale vibes — a cape may be just the thing!

2. Feathers

Along the neckline, on the sleeve, or even decorating the bottom — feathers add a fun pop of texture to any gown! We love how understated these feathers are, and don’t overwhelm the dress, but rather add just a touch of funk. :)

3. Fringe

BRING ON THE FRINGE!! This is one trend that we are super in love with and would be totally fine if it stayed around, well, FOREVER. Fringe showcases movement of the body, is extremely fun to dance in, and is the perfect boho touch to any elegant gown! And how incredible is the way Pronovias dressed up the fringe gown, seen on the right, with all the delicate beading?! That gown had some serious shimmer and was a major SHOWSTOPPER.

4. Bows

Elegant and sophisticated. Bows are back this year, and in a major way. Seen as a side accent to the waist, or as a big statement on the back — these bows are the definition of cute meets cool.

5. Blue Hues

Last year we saw quite a few gowns grace the runway in subtle hues (think blush, nude, gray), and this year blue made a major statement! Though the color is soft and subdued, it definitely stood out from the ivory + white gowns. For the bride that wants something striking, uniquely her own, but still timeless — a blue wedding dress may be the thing for you!
