Otherworldly Desert Mirage Shoot in Joshua Tree

Desert Mirage Wedding Inspiration

It is often said that the desert holds an otherworldly quality, both mysterious and mystical. And so, with a vision to capture something unique and unknown, Going Steady Studios designed a dreamy shoot that feels more like a mirage than real life! It’s easy to get lost in love through details reflecting light + color, and the planetary textures that capture the imagination:

The whole inspiration for the shoot was a desert mirage look. We wanted to showcase the strange and striking landscape around The Ruin Venue with a minimal approach that was both modern and earthy. The end result looked like it was shot on another planet.

Partnering up with photographer, Amber Gress, the team created a day truly out of this world:

Going Steady Studios went with big blooms and a bold color palette to stand out against the neutrals desert colors. The main ingredients? Icelandic poppies, Japanese sweetpeas, scabiosa, orchids and garden roses.

You can’t go wrong when even the drinks match the color inspiration!

Love the gold pomegranate setting! That Jupiter-esque marble table is perfection, and we found the plates to get the look yourself!

Mirrors were incorporated to echo the “mirage” look. They were placed in the floral centerpiece, used as cocktail signs, and the menu: a ceramic replica of the Joshua Tree landscape with a moon-like mirror attached.

The cakes were three different sized rounds, made to match the floral palette and finished with a shiny gloss to gave them a planetary look.

The Ruin Venue holds a bit of mystery on its own: a found abandoned stone house uncovered on a hike is now one of Joshua Tree’s most sought after venues.
