Old Hollywood Regency on the Farm Wedding: Ashley + Kemble

Happy Monday everyone! We are starting the week off with this gorgeous “Old Hollywood Regency on the Farm” wedding from one of our readers, Ashley. Ashley + Kemble were married on her family’s farm in southwest Georgia. They had lots of help from family as Ashley’s father and Kemble built the ceremony backdrop that Ashley + Kemble designed, and Ashley’s sister designed all their paper goods and signage. Such a beautiful day! Big thanks to the lovely Simply Bloom Photography ladies for the gorgeous photos.

From Ashley, “Kemble and I have an appreciation for both the formal/fancy side and the relaxed, playful side of life. We thought the look of “old hollywood regency” on the farm would capture both sides. The wedding was on my family’s farm in southwest Georgia, which means a lot to both of us. I grew up playing there on the weekends, and Kemble would come down to visit with friends starting when we were in college. It is a place full of years worth of memories for us and for my family. Both of my parents and my grandparents grew up within a few miles of the farm.”

How sweet is their first look! Adore. This is why I recommend a first look – such an emotional moment…

My sister and Belle of Honor, Joni Lay of Chocolate Butterbean and Lay Baby Lay, did all the graphics and signage for our wedding. Everything she designed was a personal and delightful gem, and she helped inspire and secure the look and feel of our wedding. I don’t know what I would have done without her! Also, the backdrop of the wedding ceremony was designed by Kemble and me and hand-built by my dad and Kemble with materials from around the farm. The entrance doors were taken from the old house my great-grandparents lived in. Our wedding would not complete in our eyes without these personal touches.

What song did you walk down the aisle to? Postcards from Far Away, an instrumental piano song by Coldplay. It is a beautiful song, and the title is meaningful as Kemble and I dated while he lived in Palo Alto, California and I was in Birmingham, Alabama.

Most memorable moment of your wedding day? The most memorable moment was our exit! We felt like 1960’s celebrities as we ran out to “Drive My Car” played by BritBeat, our Beatles Tribute Band, and through the crowd of friends family cheering us on. We kept waving from inside the old white Jeep Scrambler and loved the moment of driving away with a dream wedding day right behind us. When we look back at pictures of us running through the crowd, we can tell that we were truly “in the moment.” Neither of us knew what we were doing with our hands or our faces!

Any advice for those planning now? Know what you want, don’t lose your vision, don’t overcomplicate things, and keep a good team close to you who is crazy enough to make your dream a reality (in my case, it was mostly my dad and my sister – I think my wedding was a full-time job for them both in the spring!) Also, keep something a secret from your guests. We kept the identity of our band (BritBeat, a Beatles Tribute Band) and the fact that we would have an ice cream truck instead of a groom’s cake secrets from everyone, including Kemble’s family! It was fun for us and for our guests to have these elements revealed on-the-spot.

Thanks so much Ashley + Kemble and we wish you guys all the best in your new married life!

  1. This is one of my favourites on GWS for a long time. It’s just so lovely! So sweet and pretty. Congratulations, Ashley and Kemble!

  2. Any more info about the ring thats shown? Its beautiful and something I’ve been looking for but can’t find.

  3. oh I LOVE this thank you thank you thank you! We are doing a reveal and this makes me see how good it can be!! We didn’t want to lose the romance in the moment, but wanted the time together. We are doing everything ourselves too, so it’s been a trip! Can’t believe it’s two months away, so much still to do! :) Labour of Love

  4. these two are just so sweet!! looking back i wish we did a first look too :)

  5. I heart this wedding. It’s so romantic and full of pretties! xo, chrissy.

  6. Amazing, lovely couple. That first look photo is so touching. :)

And I would love to have an ice cream truck at my wedding too!

  7. Gorgeous! And yes, I second the request for some info about where you found the ring. I love it also!

  8. The “powder room” sign is such a cute detail! I love all of the paper goods/printed materials. And I want the bride’s shoes!!

  9. Oh my, this looks like an amazing wedding! There are so many beautiful details, I don’t know where to start! The cake, the flowers, all of the paper goods…love it all!

  10. The bride looks like a star! I love how this wedding was able to merge retro and modern, kitschy and chic. ♥

  11. The bride is stunning, the flowers are beautiful and the couple looks so happy – what’s not to love about this sweet Southern wedding?!?

  13. The first look photo is priceless!

  14. Ring came from Ryan Snuggs at Bromberg’s in Birmingham, AL. Give him a call and he’ll give you all the details you want! Thank you for all the compliments. I agree — my bride was stunning.

  15. What a beautiful wedding, love the ‘first look’ picture

  16. Loved all their original and personal ideas that made their wedding celebrations so special for them.

  17. words cannot express how in loooooove with this wedding i am!!!! beautiful decor & so sweet when they are both tearing up – perfectly captured!

  18. That is so sweet! three favourite things: mother of the bride photo, first look photo (of course, who wouldn’t?!) and those doors to the ceremony, genious!

  19. Now WHERE do you get that door? I’m getting married on a mountaintop in 2 months and while I’m so excited for that, I realized just the other day that I have no clue how to prevent the reveal from being super anti climactic for the whole congregation. My fiance and I will be doing a first look, so I’m not too worried about him, but we’re getting married in the round, so it’s not even like I can just sneak in in the back. Thoughts?

  20. It just can’t be any better than this!
    Everything was just PERFECT….

  21. GORGEOUS wedding! I absolutely love the first look photo where they are both wiping their eyes–what a wonderful memory to have captured.

  22. Absolutely beautiful. I love how the printed materials and signs are so well coordinated. Everything fits together so perfectly. Lovely color palette as well.

  23. Hello. Lovely wedding, loved the vintage and modern details. I’m wondering where the table runner is from. I’m looking for a graphic runner for a wedding in Oct. Thanks so much!

  24. I’m getting married in Georgia and I ADORE that ice cream truck!!! Any information on where I can find it?! I’ve searched high and low for a cute, vintage ice cream truck to rent!

  25. so soft weeding pictures very nice !

  26. very cute weeding. beautiful dress, decoration and pictures. congratulations !
