New Jersey Farm Wedding: Saury + Diego

bride and groom

Saury + Diego always dreamed of having their wedding outdoors in a field surrounded by trees. After searching for months trying to find a place like that in New York, they stumbled across The Inn at Fernbrook Farmss in New Jersey. After one visit, they fell in love with the location immediately. From Saury, “It felt like straight out of a fairy tale. Susie, the owner, was very nice and helpful so we booked it right away.

After almost 8 years in long distance relationship, they both wanted their wedding day to feel fun, vibrant, and colorful to celebrate their victory of finally coming together! Since both their families + close friends were coming from outside the US, they knew they wanted to have a smaller, intimate wedding. They also did as much DIY as possible to bring their own touch to the day – they designed the invitations, programs + place cards, gathered wood from back alleys in NYC and hand painted every sign and chalkboard, and even visited flea markets to find vintage wood crates and picture frames. Such a perfect wedding! Congrats to Saury + Diego and thanks so much to Pat Furey for the photos!

Our Favorite Memory From The Wedding

Diego: For me it was the ceremony. We got married right under these two big trees on a wide-open field. We had our florist hang some colorful streamers on each of the branches and those kept swaying with the wind along with the leaves creating this dreamy peaceful sound. It was really emotional and it was the one moment were we could finally breath from all the pre-wedding chaos and really enjoy being together with everyone there to celebrate the fact that we were finally getting married and ready to start our lives together.

Saury: My most memorable moment was when I began walking down the aisle, realizing how I was getting closer to fulfilling my dream. Every moment of the ceremony was unforgettable. The time of sharing our vows was particularly very special and magical for me. We expressed to one another all the love and commitment to begin the journey of a new life together no matter what. When we were proclaimed Mr. and Mrs. Contreras I felt so much joy for our victory. With the music of nature in a place like Fernbrook Farms, every detail of our dream setting and the company of our friends and family couldn’t have been better for such a wonderful day.

Huge thanks to Pat Furey for being awesome and immortalizing our wedding with his photos! It’s definitely worth finding someone like Pat that you can trust with your wedding photos. The day goes by in a flash but those photos will stay with you forever.

Our Advice To Those Planning Now

Just have fun and try to bring your personalities to everything you do. We feel that it makes it more memorable for all the guests who are joining you on that special day. Don’t let the pre-wedding chaos make you loose sight of the real importance of your wedding day. And definitely seek help and try to delegate as much of the work as possible. We tried to take on too much work, and without a wedding planner to help, we were overwhelmed with work the morning of the wedding. Thankfully we had our friends and family to help out on the last details.
