More Silhouette Love

Cherie was sweet enough to share some of her silhouette details with us today! Special thanks to the talented Kate Harrison for sending me these photos.

From Cherie, For the initial outline of silhouette that was used throughout, they were created by Jamie who has a store called BlueClara at Etsy. I sent her some photos of profiles that Larry and I took at the Tech museum in San Jose. I had cookie cutters made by Victor Trading Co and brought them to a local bakery here in Alameda called Boniere Bakery. They made the cookies with sugar cookie dough and white and grey royal frosting.

Since we were having guests take home some candy after our afternoon affair, I made a logo for the bags that would bid them a good afternoon in English and Tagalog, “Magandang Hapon” and “Good Afternoon.” I used the silhouettes that Jamie made us and used my handy Gocco to screenprint/stamp them onto paper bags that we got from Paper Mart. I made the streamers using goldenrod and grey ribbons from Britex and glued them onto wooden dowels from a local hardware store. I also made a little note for guests asking them to wave the streamers when we go down the aisle.

I found this Filipino-American wedding featured in Martha Stewart Weddings and borrowed the idea of making cocktail swizzles using bamboo drink stirs and small labels that read, “Mabuhay,” a Filipino greeting that means, “Long Live!” I also printed labels that read, “L’ Chaim,” a Jewish greeting that means, “To Life!”

I really liked the look of framed silhouettes and felt cut-outs so I cut out our silhouettes on felt (using the silhouettes made for us by Jamie), glued them on to a grey background, framed them in embroidery hoops and put a grey velvet ribbon to hang them on the chairs.

Kristin from Twin Ravens Press in Eugene, Oregon did all the graphic design and letterpress printing for us. She even wrote a blog post with in-depth details on the design process. I screenprinted the wedding website insert using my Gocco and typed and rubber-stamped the text/graphics in the programs. Photos below from Kristin. I LOVE this invitation suite! It’s so fun and has lots of great little details. Thanks again Cherie and Kate!
